Good Thursday Morning, Everybody!
:donut::hi:
Hello, hello! I hope you Nighthawks have had a GREAT night! I'm all excited today because Greekspeak comes home to me this afternoon! :bounce: It's going to be great day simply because of THAT. :woohoo:

I, myself, had a strange night. I fell asleep on the couch around 8:30pm (getting up at 3:30am got to me I guess) and woke up at 3:30 again. There was an informercial for some kind of knives on TV that never get dull. The host was showing what all they can do and the "inventor" of the knives came on and kept adding different knives to the collection so that in the end, there was like 30 in all, "For The Unbelieveable Price Of Only Three Easy Monthly Payments Of $13.33!" I couldn't pull my eyes off the freakin' TV. Finally I changed the channel, and here was Barry Williams (of The Brady Bunch fame) promoting a set of 70's CD's from Time-Life. There were 10 CD's total and one didn't even need a credit card to order them! Just have your checkbook ready and you can use a check just like a credit card!

I hate infomercials. x(

4. Good morning Clint.
:hi:

I can almost hear your excitement right across the Atlantic. :D

Today is my last day of work this year. I was up late, but come half past five and 2005 in this office is over :bounce:

Infomercials really are irritating, we get several shopping channels and some of the 'minor' channels on Sky carry them when the main programming isn't on - but the big ones are thankfully free.

:hi::pals:
You're off after today for the rest of the year? You lucky boy! I wish I had that much time off. Alas, I only get Christmas day off, and only because the store is closed.

Yes, they ARE irritating! Especially since I can't change the channel until I see the entire package being offered!

15. Monday and Tuesday are public holidays
Though Tuesday probably not for those in retail. As I don't usually work Fridays that makes a 2 day week, so it seems sensible to take it as holiday. Then Monday 2 January is another public holiday. :P

19. I'm sure I will
I'll probably want to kill my entire family before new year - but I'll have a good time nonetheless.

But that's still a few hours away. I'm playing at Father Christmas at the moment, dealing with expenses here specifically telling people that we're paying them tomorrow - should make them happy, but can't say that it's very interesting for me.

 You must be counting down the hours. Today is my last day before my Christmas break. We get holidays tomorrow and Monday and just yesterday I decided I wouldn't be ready to come back on Tuesday so I'm off then. Next week should be a quiet 3-day work week and sometimes those of us there will plan a breakfast or some such non-productive frivolity.

Tonight I make the sweet potatoes that made my reputation and got me received back into my extended family.

I hope you're having a jolly day, you charmer! :loveya:

Yes, those infomercials are pure rot, so hokey that only a Republican would fall for them. I pass by plenty of them in the middle of the night on weekends :puke:. I can't believe that people actually watch them, let alone buy things from them. Obviously they must, as the things are still on.

So, are you working today or are you blessed with a day off?

I have to work today. I'm going to pick Greekspeak up at the airport, drop him off home and then it's off to work. x( I don't have another day off until Christmas Day.

I hate the infomercials because I can't turn them off until I see the entire "package" being offered. It took them a while to get through all the knives for sale, so I was stuck for a while. :puke:

21. No, she didn't show up...
Which means she'll probably be there when I get to the store today. :scared:

You got it! That's a popular ploy to get people to buy. I bet you the actual price they were going to charge in the first place was the amount of the payments minus the payment they are going to "take off".

25. But of course
Just like some stores (grocery stores in particular) jack up their prices, then lure you in with a "sale". In reality their "sale" prices are the same as other stores' regular prices, so you're better off never going there.

Aye, I hate when the DMs do that. It's better to just get it over with than to have that constant anticipation. I hope it all goes well for you.

Thank you for being so generous with your compliments. I am feeling full of good cheer this morning! I am at work now and coffee has been administered. :)

I don't think you'll call this cheating because it was actually a legitimate activity and a perq of being in the church choir, but I got to sing Christmas music with a string quartet at last night's rehearsal for the Christmas Eve service. Portions only (sadly) of the Vivaldi Gloria and several carols, including Adeste fideles with sopranos and tenors on the David Willcocks descant on the final verse. As when we rehearse our Easter morning music on the last Wednesday evening of Lent, my heart just swells to get this advance!

I will spend it at home with my hubby and I'll make a nice meal and maybe go see a movie. I love just having a day off and I think I'll get four of them.

I told the staff they could work tomorrow or not and I was going to take it on the chin all alone. They all said "no, you take it off, we'll cover". So I think one employee will work all day and one will work 1/2 day and the rest of us will be off! (we are closed on Monday) What a nice gift huh. How about you, what big plans do you have?

67. oh yes
I bought it Monday. I get the money for Christmas. I so look forward to take pictures with it. Yesterday I tried it. One of my orchids at home blossomed, so I took a pic of the flower. It was sooooo cool. And you know what I will do with the pics once they got developed and turned out good :)

71. I am rather humble about my pictures
of course there are some good ones in between. I guess my photographic skills is actually something that I got from my dad. Not like the intelligence where my brother somehow got more of. I just got the rest :)
It is always like "WOW, I am actually good at something"

75. not really
I amke jokes of it. Like when I don't want to be a librarian anymore (fat chance  ) I am going to make a living as photographer. But I think it is tougher to make a living as photgrapher than as librarian. I rather keep it as hobby. Who knows what the future has in peto for me.

80. I know what you mean
yesterday I got off work 1 1/2 hours early. i thought hey, I get home early and got my stuff done so I have the evening free. What did I do? Watch TV, taking a nap, talking here at DU. Great. So I used the evening after all. I didn't vaccum or anything, just picking up stuff and putting it where it belongs and washing dishes. But that helped a lot already.
When is Greekspeak back?

87. Yes, I'll pick them up at the airport.
I just talked to him on the phone and he's getting ready to board the plane to Orlando. Then he'll have a layover there and then leave for Tallahassee. We haven't named the puppy yet...I want to see it's personality a little first. Then make a decision.

Infomercials - clearly a good reason not to watch TV, which I rarely do!
I get off of work around 1pm today and then I'm outta here! Yeah! Only to return the 26th. Have one important project that I MUST finish this morning, and it's doable which makes me happy.
Wishing all of you warm thoughts over the holidays!

:donut: :hi:

I had a great night, thanks! I'm glad you're having an exciting day today, even though it started out so strangely. Ah, infomercials. One time we fell for a Time-Life one, where you could get over 500 classical recordings on a 12-record set. OK, we didn't do the math! They would play the main theme and then fade into the next one. They never promised full-lenght recordings, after all!
