I use it every day. My dentist recommended that I do.

6. If it burns, it works.
By that logic, muriatic acid should do the trick, too.

9. I asked my dentist & she said it's the best ...
I recently tried the citrus kind - it's more mild. Still yucky, but milder.

10. I won a 6th grade Science Fair with this proposition
I tested Listerine, Scope, Lavoris and Dr. Tichenor's. This was about 30 years ago mind you. The results came in as

1. Scope
2. Lavoris
3. Dr. Tichenor's
4. Listerene
5. Control

What I did was to take scrapings from my mouth, innoculate beef broth solutions in five test tubes, incubate the broth solutions for 72 hours, add the mouthwashes to four of the test tubes, incubate for another 72 hours, innoculate petri dishes containing agar/blood media with the broth solutions, incubate another 72 hours and then count the bacterial colonies on each dish. The control had huge bacterial growth, the difference between Scope and Listerene was significant. Many things could have gone wrong to skew the results, but I documented those possibilities.

11. It works for me...
I use it for peridontal disease and it keeps my gums from being inflamed. It also helps with my "tonsil cheese" -- that yucky bacteria/food combo that can live in/behind your tonsils.

Listerine is nasty stuff, but it an be a big help with dental care.

13. Yes, it works. I use it every day and have for years.
If you think it tastes bad now remember that back in the "old days" they only had one kind--the gold one that tasted very "antiseptic" and very STRONG. The citrus one they have is the one I use now. It is milder than any of the others.
