Happy Festivus!! Today let us have the "Airing of the Grievances"
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 09:51 AM by LynneSin
Whatever your grievances were for 2005 - air them here. It's time to get it all out in the open.

In celebration of Festivus I've made a donation to the Human Fund in all of your names. If you wish to contribute just PM me and I'll give you their address :P

1. During this past year the purchasing department of my comapny
has disappointed me by refusing to help with any manual labor that had to be done and the accounting department has had to move furniture, made dump runs, and generally do any grunt labor that had to be done.

When you go to DU gathering please leave all your nasty pestilence at home so others do not suffer from your ailments

3. My mother-in-law is not doing my marriage any good.
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 10:13 AM by Ron Mexico
No matter what I do or say, she always has to offer some sort of an "alternative." So I've started to mock her by using her "alternatives" just to see her suggest the thing I said the first time. She doesn't notice because correcting people is a knee-jerk reaction, but my wife sees what I'm doing, and is not happy about it.

My mother-in-law is ruining my marriage, which has lasted for 16 years fo far. I've bit my tongue for over a decade and a half, but my patience is finally exhausted. And now the obnoxious hag is staying over for the holidays, and I've got to tell my wife that I'm going to stay with the neighbors. This is not going to go over well, but it's either my staying elsewhere or blowing my top and telling the mother-in-law what I think of her. For years I've been writing down instances of how she pisses me off (it's the way I deal with it and simmer down), and my notes now exceed 500 pages.

It's not a question of trying harder - it's a question of no gas left in the patience tank and no desire to try to be nice to a bitter old bitch anymore. As much as I love my wife, if the mother-in-law's constant presence is inevitable, then so is at a minimum a trial separation.

My grievance? My mother-in-law is in excellent health.

5. Happy Festivus, Lynne!
:toast: To good friends and family, to love & life! :toast:

You have never disappointed me, Lynne, and I hope I haven't ever disappointed you. (Well, okay, I did make that mistake of spelling your name wrong, I spelled it Lynn and not Lynne. I have tried to make up for that and have tried to do better x( )

And the bandwidth of DU couldn't handle my list of other disappointments, not this year. So I will simply celebrate the good and try to put the bad in the past (I also have discovered the ignore feature here -- it really works - blood pressure is much lower. ;-) )

Happy Festivus to You! :toast: :loveya:

And More Cowbells too:

6. insurance companies
who don't pay their claims! Even when there is an authorization. And then you have to call them numerous times! To get them to pay their frigging bills! GRRRRR.

there, that's better. :)

10. I'll second that one...
My mom canceled a vacation when my father in law was murdered. She filed on her trip insurance, which CLEARLY covered the death of in- laws.

They said we had to have proof in the form of news articles and doctor's letter(s) (NOT one of the doctors who worked on my FIL), so we had my therapist who had seen me twice after to help me through the grief and shock write a letter.

My mom's $4300 claim was denied because they do not pay for "losses arising from mental illness or personality disorder unless they result in hospitalization of 3 days or more".

Well, first of all, I was tempted to tell them that they made my year by telling me that my father in law was not dead after all, but he was just crazy! It's good to know that all that grief was for nothing and that he was still alive after all! (sarcasm, of course)

Instead, I wrote them a letter, highlighting the section in their policy where they pay for losses based on being unable to travel due to the death of a family member, including in- laws. I told them that mental illness was completely irrelevant to our claim unless they felt the need to examine the state of mind of my father in law's murderer.

I also explained to them that I provided the letter from a therapist ONLY because they said they had to have a "doctor's letter", and that grief from the violent and sudden loss of a loved one was not a "mental illness or personality disorder" and that I was appalled at the implication that it was.

My mom got her check last Thursday. But we will NEVER use that insurance company again (Old Republic, sold by Travelex) - Either they are f***ing STUPID or were trying to scam my mother and further make our family pay for my father in law's murder.

I have many other grievances this year because it's been the year from hell, but they are too many to list. So I'll just stick with this one.

11. But you're ruining the traditions of festivus
You're suppose to air your grievences. Tomorrow we'll have the Feats of Strengths celebration

So air away. But choosing to not air your grievences you spoil the true meaning of Festivus.

Have you put up your Festivus Pole yet?

9. One of my cats has disappointed me in a big way.
By refusing to poop in "clumping" litter, I have been forced to buy old-fashioned clay litter, which means I have to clean out and scour the litter box every day. And don't get me started on the other three......

12. This year has been one big disappointment
Ever since I got back from Texas, this year has sucked. Asshole backstabbing colleagues who caused me to lose my job is the first and foremost grievance, followed shortly by backstabbing asshole administrators who have been slacking on continuing the medical insurance, and subsequently followed by the debt collection agency asking for the 1100 dollars from my emergency room visit after I fell down the stairs, which the insurance should have covered.

Which makes the third consecutive shitty year in a row.
