Celebrity Culture: The "Sophisticates" Of The Chattering And...
Scribbling Classes Are Far More Besotted With Useless Celebrities Than The "Yahoos of Flyover Country" Could Ever Be

I know that runs counter to the myth, but it's true. The lumpenprole may go, "Oh, Jennifer Anniston, she's cute" or "24 is a good TV show", but that is pretty much where their connection ends. Those people are actually too busy working, caring for their families, etc. The television is just background noise. Most could care less if Britney has kicked out whatshisname or if Lindsay Lohan is a coke slut or whatever.
While they may be very well paid, the magazine journalists and entertainment reporters are the actual suckers who are wasting their lives on inanities.
