Queen Honors Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page

LONDON - Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has been honored by Queen Elizabeth II — but the award was for his work with poor Brazilian children rather than his music.

The 61-year-old rocker went to Buckingham Palace on Wednesday to receive an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, or OBE, from the queen.

Page said he was overwhelmed to be given the accolade, recalling how he first became involved with Brazilian children in 1994 when fighting broke out among street gangs while he was in Rio de Janeiro promoting an album.

Sir James Page. Has a nice ring to it. He was always rock aristocracy.

6. He looks pretty good
To be honest, I didn't expect him to look that good after all these years. He has not been known to take very good care of himself. However, he looks a lot better than Keith or Mick, and even Robert Plant (who I always thought was dead-sexy) is showing some serious age.

7. Oh please, I'd still do Robert Plant in a heart beat

even if he is an almost 60 year old man. That hair alone would be worth it.

Here's a recent shot from a park he helped to build.

Yeah, Bobby P still does it for me! 30 years later and I'm still :loveya: him!!

Edit Note: HOLY BATCRAP!!!!! Who would have thought this guy would age the best of all of them. Damn, he got better looking

8. I hate to burst your bubble
but an OBE doesn't get you called "Sir". You just get to put "OBE" after your name. Above "OBE" is "CBE", and then above that is a knighthood. Come on, you didn't think the British honours system would be simple, did you? There's many layers, to support hundreds of years of class snobbery.

I have more respect for Keith Richards and David Bowie, both of whom were offered knighthoods and basically said "thanks, but no thanks...what's the bloody point?"

Edit: OBE isn't a knighthood, anyway...if he'd become a knight the letters would be KBE...

11. Are you sure about this??
As I understand it Keef was pissed off because Mick got one and he didn't.
Bowie?!
Truth to tell, they'll give one to any old TV actor who stays alive long enough.

13. Only Knights are "Sir"
So he is still Mr. Jimmy Page. :-)

But I do commend his work with the Brazillion, I mean Brazilan children. :D
