3. There were many large dog prints

but there was also a boot print!

The whole thing was out of the ground lying on the soil surface. There was no evidence of digging around the hole.

I think it was a person.

(I used to pull up the corners of sod in front of the house of this woman whom none of us liked. I'd never spoken with her. I was a bad kid and to this day what I did haunts me. I also popped her fuchsias before they bloomed. :cry:)
