Photos of Portland Maine in December
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 08:48 AM by gorbal
I thought you might like these pictures I took of the city I live in before and after the first snow storm-

http://photobucket.com/albums/v383/cobalow/Maine%20Towns/Portland%20In%20December/

It was really kind of a magical experience, walking around, helping people dig up their cars on my street. (people kept getting stuck, lol)

One thing I always want to know is "What do different downtowns look like" but I don't see enough pictures of them on the internet.

(photobucket has pop-up adds fyi)

:)

4. Okay, that first intersection looks kind of familiar.
I basically know the Old Port area, and one Indian restaurant that serves things "Mild, Medium, Hot and Supper Hot" (yes, the menu says that). I'm particularly a fan of the street with Abacus on it, and the record store up the hill and to the right.

3. nice pics...
I love the architecture in the NE. It's like nothing we have out here...I was in awe during my first trip to Boston -- beautiful!

Your "August 2004" album (yes, I've been snooping around :) ) looks like New Mexico...?

8. It's on the border of the desert half of Oregon
I attended a cob building workshop there in August, that was quite the experience. (On the second page you can tell what city my plane landed on the way home;))

6. Thanks gorbal, I recognize many of those spots.

I was in Ptld last week but left before the snowstorm. The residential shots look like the West End (Spruce Street area for the shot framed with the mansard roofs) and I think I know one of the men walking on State Street. How's that for weird?

On edit: not seen in your photos, but I was amused by the gussied up Longfellow statue. Old Henry never looked so festive.

10. Oh yeah, with the Present on his lap
Your right about the west end, I rent out one of those Mansards with my mom (hey we're both single girls, we split the rent). It'ds a really nice area, especially when the snow covers all the trash. LOL!

9. Thanks for the compliments guys:)
Portland looks like how I wanted Europe to be when I visited it. I want to carbon date the buildings they seem so ancient.

:)
