8. XM 202
O&A are the best, they make me laugh alot more than Stern ever did. Besides them- channel 8 (The 80's) and channel 20 (current top hits) are really good.

12. O&A 7-11am, Ron & Fez 11-2
very irreverent, not for the easily offended. O&A replay all day after ron and fez, they replay blocks of both on weekends.

Ron & Fez is less "Shock Jockey", and i think ron has one of the best comic deliveries and sense of comedic timing i've ever heard on radio. O&A are pretty in-your-face and are definitely not for everybody.

13. Almost all day and night...
The "live" show runs from 7am-11am on weekdays. They then replay that show from 3pm-7pm, 7pm-11pm, and from 3am-7am. The only other show on the station is "Ron and Fez" (which I'm not a fan of), they're on from 11am-2pm and from Midnight-3am. Other times, like on weekends, they'll run either "O&A Worst of the Week" (which is really a "best of the week"), or a Ron and Fez show. Give it a shot- not everyone's humor, obviously, some of the things they do and say are shocking. But, overall extremely funny.

14. XM 167
AAR almost exclusively during the week, except for the 3-6 ET time slot. Big Eddie then. Sorry, can't handle Randi except in very small doses.

18. I used to have XM, and I'm thinking about getting Sirius.
XM has a decent punk channel (Fungus 53). They have a lot of specialty shows like "Hee-Haw Hell," which is an hour of rockabilly. They also did 24 hours of Ramones a while back. The classic alternative staion, Fred, is good as well. However, I'd like to subscribe to Sirius because it seems as if their channels are much more genre-specific than XM's. For example, XM has 4 alternative stations (classic, new/modern, alt hits and hard alternative), and they all play pretty much the same thing. Also, Sirius has Little Steven's Underground Garage channel, which is pretty awesome in my book. The downtempo electronica station is also great.

that isn't surprising, they are even a partner with my local community alt. radio station. (gag) It's probably impossible to do business without having some dealings with them.

31. When is this stupid urban legend going to end?
One of DU's most persistant myths. At its peek Clear Channle owned about 20% of XM now its about 2% and dropping.

34. I guess you should tell XM about this Urban Legend
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 04:30 PM by Sandpiper
So they can remove it from their website.

http://www.xmradio.com/corporate_info/strategic_partners_category.jsp?category=investment

And whether it's 20% or 2%, unless their ownership interest is 0%, buying XM puts money in the pocket of Clear Channel.

But, say whatever you want to make yourself feel better about it.

;-)

25. I think XM is better for the kind of music you listed.
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 10:51 AM by Pithlet
I have similar tastes, and I think the selection for music is better on XM. They seem more likely to play stuff off the beaten path. It's been a year since I've had Sirius, so they may have changed their lineup.

ETA XM is not owned by Clear Channel. Don't feel bad if you go with XM. I'm very happy with it.

28. I have SIRIUS and my son-in-law has XM
I think the real difference involves sports programming

SIRIUS does serious college football coverage - XM does NASCAR

other than that - with a few minor distinctions, I think they are pretty much the same

24. I laugh so hard at 151 on XM...
Classic.

The stations you list, I also listen to alot.

With the addition of 155 (Ellen or HGTV Radio mostly) and
The (Space Music Channel)(?) 77 when I'm doing some serious
long distance driving.

Aside: I'm ticked at AAR for the demise of Morning Sedition.
I'm not sure I know what's going on, but, I'll probably listen
much less.

That's my favorite...it drives my husband crazy 'cause he hates New Wave 80's music...but, he loves me so he puts up with it! :-)

I also like the Sirius Holiday station 'cause I'm a big dork for Christmas music. :D
