Buffy fans; does season 2 onward lack the high schooliness of it all?
Season 1 isn't half-bad, but it's got an early 90s school kiddie feel, though it's still surprisingly good.

Do later seasons get away from this aspect?

1. It got a little maudlin for awhile...
took itself too seriously. Then it got good again, but the last season kinda blew:(

3. I like serious, but it's good to know...
I've had the series hyped unto me for ages and tonight I've finally dug in.

I saw only the pilot. Sarah Michelle Geller is more eye candy than actress, and it's a bit hammy, but the Whedon touch is definitely there. I love it through and through. Except her. I'm immune to eye-candy.

(The main baddie in the pilot looks like Mick Jagger too...)

Giles rules too.

4. Forget Buffy - time to graduate to Angel - it's for grown-ups.

less sophomoric, darker, more interesting...and your eyes will be pleased too.

2. yes
high school issues are dealt with less and less as the characters are developed. And of course after graduation they don't deal with it at all.
