Milli Vanilli no longer exists on my computer
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 09:30 PM by LynneSin
If you didn't hear, I was organizing my song collection which is all uploaded into SonicStage. You can alter properties to a group of songs and I thought I was fixing the name of the band & album for yes, two Milli Vanilli songs in the collection. Instead I renamed the album, genre and band name for all of my songs with groups starting with the letters A-E (thank goodness the Clash & The Beatles are all in the "T" section because I haven't fixed the "THE" thing).

That was about 500 songs all renamed with Milli Vanilli as the singer - including Alice in Chains, Audioslave, Coldplay, David Bowie, Elton John just to name a few.

Fornuately after I fixed the names on about 500 songs it was easy enough to sort by date uploaded and then renamed all of the songs together in a group since the album would all have the same upload time.

And when I was done, those 2 Milli Vanilli songs - DELETED!!!!

Edit note: There are 2 songs I have no clue who sung them but they came from my WXPN New Music Sampler so hopefully I can find the original CDs and get the name of the singer

3. About 2 hours
The only thing the songs retained was the name of the song and the number it was located on the CD. So I did all the songs that were 1,2,3 and then did all the songs that were 10-whatever the highest number was. Then I sorted by date imported. You'd see 8 songs with no group name (I removed Milli Vanili from the name first so they were all blank) and above and below that group of unnamed songs I'd see like Alice Cooper or Alice in Chains. Then I'd just convert them all over the the right name, album name etc.

I usually don't drink on work nights but damn I needed a glass of wine with that boneheaded mistake

4. I still have a ton of work to do
I like having the proper name of the album, genre, location on the CD all on my songs (I'm really anal with that stuff). So it'll probably take another month of hard work to clean that all up. But the worst of the damage has been fixed.

I was going to cook this great chicken dish I make but I'll save it for tomorrow night
