Does anyone have Bad Neighbor Stories??
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 05:30 PM by RockaFowler
I surely do. My drug addict neighbor is the worst. Three weeks ago he had a fire (and I say Thank God for that) that gutted the interior of his house. The exterior is fine, though. Anyway, they turned off the power to his place (the original bad wiring that he did caused the fire to begin with). So, he was told to get a professional to come in to rewire the place. In the meantime he is running a generator every night. Every Night!!!!!! It is awful. We can't even open up the windows now that the weather is cooler. This morning he started it up again and now he is building cabinets. We have called the Building Department before on him. We live in a residential area where no busineses are allowed. Yet, he thinks he's better than everyone else. I hope they kick his ass out. He only owns the mobile home, not the lot. So, he has to follow a few rules. I just wish they would do something around here.

1. Wow, what a warm hearted individual you are
Very nice indeed. I don't care if the guy is a drug addict or not and I don't care if it was his poor wiring that caused the fire - no one deserves to have their house burn. No one. And certainly no one should gloat over it.

If I didn't have power, you can bet your butt I'd be running a generator and you bitch because he's a supposed drug addict but he's got the get up and go to build cabinets which you find fault with too! The milk of human kindness runs right over with you, doesn't it? If he weren't doing anything, you'd no doubt be offended by that.

What ever happened to "judge not lest ye be judged"?

I bet your neighbor has a few bad neighbor stories too.

Oh, and welcome to DU.

2. WOW . . . Look who's judging
You have no idea what we have gone through with this guy. He has cut down our trees, ran over my husband's foot and nearly broke a hole in our house. I was giving you the latest on this loser. He's a drunk and a drug addict who I have no sympathy for whatsoever. He has done everything to himself. We have never done anything to him.

3. We had a neighbor like that once.
Thankfully, we haven't had any bad stories. But my friends have told me horror stories at the lunch table.

My good friend went on vacation for two weeks in Mexico. She lives in a reclusive area of town with only one other house. Her neighbors are an old retired man and woman who are apparently, very nice.

When they came back, they went into their house. It smelled, the furniture was torn up, and everything was messed with. She said it looked like a bomb went through.

Apparently, the old couple had gotten their son to take care of the house while THEY went on vacation. He decided to have a party in her house because he had the key.

They were finding beer bottles and condoms for days, from what I hear.

This happened a while back. They sued to son and won.

4. Trick for getting rid of these sort of neighbors
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 06:14 PM by LeftyMom
You need a whole lot of big loud speakers (go buy some at Goodwill if you need to, the crappier the sound quality the better,) a stereo with a repeat setting and some really annoying music. Point all the speakers at thier house, turn them up really loud (go with twangy country, hair metal or pop christmas carols, whichever your neighbor would find most annoying) lock your house up really tight (with bad neighbors you probably do anyhow) and leave for the day. Return ten minutes before the local noise ordinace kicks in and turn the annoyance machine off. Repeat as needed. (Enlist the help of the other neighbors first so they can keep an eye on your place and contact you if the bad neighbor starts any trouble.)

It worked really well with the tweakers who lived next to my family in high school. Turns out they really didn't care for Hank Williams. ;)
