In fact I prefer an Austrian accent to, let's say a Hamburg accent. Much less harsh in pronounciation.

Background: You should know that my ex in-laws were Viennese mostly. One family lived in Salzburg. I loved them immensely. It was just my ex- I couldn't stand.

I have no problems with Austrians in general(heck, I've got family from there), but I don't like the accent one bit. A sharp Hamburg accent (like Helmut Schmidt, for example) - now that is elegance.

I'm not too fond of any Germany accent spoken south of the Main-line; but as it's a matter of taste that may be just me.
