Twins Fans: Frank Thomas at DH?
That seems to be what all the local skuttlebutt is about. He's been denied arbitration by the White Sox, and is looking for a team, preferably in the AL, so he can visit his old team once in a while. If he's with the Twins, he could visit them about 19 times next year, plus any possible post-season.

DH spot would be filled, and even if he's "hurt" (pun intended) half the year, he'll still hit more home runs than the rest of our middle lineup. Plus, you'd probably only have to pay him in incentives, and not up front, considering his injury-riddled nature as of late.

What would you think about this?

1. its sad that injuries have killed his career
I hope he finishes strong so he can get in the Hall of Fame. A shame he couldnt finish his career with the White Sox but at least he got a ring this year.

2. Yikes
If there is truth to the rumors that he is a locker room cancer, no way, but if it is indeed just rumor, it would likely work out better than the Bret Boone experiment.

What about shortstop? Don't we need a shortstop?

4. Yes I saw that they were adding to their mid career shortstop collection
Are mid career shortstops like Beanie Babies?

6. The Twins would actually like to use Nomar too.....at 3rd.

That's where Terry Ryan would play him if they acquired him somehow. He's another perfect fit for the Twins system. Good hitter, getting a little old, questionable durability. We could also make his contract incentive-based and pray that it works out. Wouldn't be all that bad.

8. I like Nomar at the hot corner!
I think it would be a good fit as well.

5. Not really.
We've got veteran Juan Castro, youngster Jason Bartlett (who played really well at the end of the year) and Nick Punto who can all play that position. We need a 3rd baseman and a DH. Right field will probably be wide open for someone too, although Michael Cuddyer will probably take that position over from Jacque if and when he departs.

I think the Frank Thomas DH thing would be AOK. And if he starts acting like a Jackass, and his contract is incentive-based, Gardy can sit him on his fat ass and let him rot there.

7. I was just kind of mourning the fact that Furcal went to the Dodgers
I think he would have been a good Twin. Castro and Bartlett are good, you are right, especially since Castro showed a little offense at times (when we were not expecting offense from him).

I do like Cuddyer better in the outfield, for some reason. 3B would be a nice thing to fill!

And we know Gardy is not afraid to sit his better players when they are not performing or are having attitude problems! (Remember Lew Ford and the bunt thing?)

10. Seems like the A's and Twins are after the same thing...
A decent power hitting DH. They don't care if they're old either. Both Piazza and Thomas are amongst the would-be candidates.
