7. We will have a meet-up. SouthlandShari, Merh, and I have been...

discussing this, and we were planning to have one in autumn, but the hurricane screwed that up.

But there will be a Southern meet-up. Shari wants to call it the GRITS meet-up (Girls Raised in the South.)

We need to get this rollin'. Perhaps January? Somewhere that Katrina didn't demolish? (I love the Golden Moon on the Choctaw reservation near Philadelphia. It has a great bar that would be perfect for our meet-up! And it has beautiful hotel rooms for a reasonable price. And anyone flying in could come into Jackson, and one of us could meet them and ferry them to the Golden Moon.)

So that's my vote. A meet-up at the Golden Moon in January. Can I get a second?

MMjr and I go often, just to get away from this area. We can get a room on a weekday for $55. Weekends are more expensive, but still reasonable.

Anyway, the casino is of course on the bottom floor. All around the round casino floor is a marble promenade, bordered by gift shops, restaurants, bars, bistros, and the beautiful swimming pool.

If you and your hubby ever need a break, that's the perfect place to visit. Of course, you can get a room at the Golden Moon, and never leave the property...there's a covered, moving walkway that takes you above and across the highway to the Silver Star. But the Golden Moon is SOO MUCH finer than the Silver Star. The Silver Star's promenade has a CHEAP gift store, with designer purses, watches, interior items for REALLY INEXPENSIVE. And a Mexican restaurant, and a spa.

It's the ultimate place for a getaway because you never have to leave--unless you want to spend a day visiting civil rights and American Indian historical sites--like the site of the Philadelphia murders, or even the mother mound of the Choctaw.

I can't recommend the Golden Moon enough. The staff is SOO accommodating and kind. The rooms are spotless and really fine. The bar at the Golden Moon is awesome.

That's where we need to have our meet-up...plus, Philadelphia wouldn't be a bad drive, even for Tennessee or other "border" states.
