Celebrities you loved as a kid that you can't stand today
You know you loved watching them as a child, but as you grew up you wondered--What was that all about?

1. Charleton Heston
I liked his early movies...yes, including "Ben Hur"

But then he turned into a right-wing, gun loving creep.

Of course, he now has Alzheimer's, so maybe I should cut him some slack.

7. I can relate to that
when I found out that he was a right wing gun nut--the illusion went. On the plus side he did march for civil rights in the 1960's.

3. National Lampoon's P.J. O'Rourke
I loved reading all his stuff in Lampoon when I was a teenager.
Now what do I think about him?
He is a complete asshole!

8. Even in his "Parliament of Whores" days he was still funny
These days he is just yet another professional talking points reader with nothing new or interesting to offer.

32. Bruce Willis isn't that bad IMO
Edited on Mon Nov-28-05 07:11 PM by socialdemocrat1981
He campaigned for Bush Snr but hasn't been one of those celebrities blindly lining up behind * Jr and I've heard that he expressed reservations about the second Gulf War. I think Willis is much more politically rational than he's been portrayed

I agree about Schwarzenegger though -the only good thing about him becoming Governor is that people are now seeing him for what he really is

31. I'll second that
I loved both of them during my childhood but Tom Cruise is just creepy and sanctimonious now and my liking of John Travolta has also diminished over recent times. I remember I always used to like Tom Cruise better than Nicole Kidman but now the opposite is true

9. Tom Cruise
Top Gun was one of my favorites as a kid (and more recently he's made some good movies like Collateral and Minority Report), but after that stint he pulled on Dateline or whatever the fuck show it was, he just turned into a complete douchebag.

19. I shook his hand once .... at a sports expo
He is really pretty small. He seemed depressed and had a very limp handshake.

I also met Steve Timmons, one of the gold medalist volleyball player at the same event. He was very tall!
