3. Voted Hummer, but really would have gone for the Chevy Vega.
Now THERE was a truly bad car! Worse than the Yugo, IMHO, and that was a Fiat clone made in Yugoslavia, for pete's sake.

7. Hummer voter, here.
The Aztek was actually pretty cool, but unsightly.

On name alone the Hummer (*ahem* blowjob *ahem*) wins, but the Landwind is a close second.

I also believe the Yugo was in the Dragnet movie, too.

8. You may wish to consider posting this in GD for more exposure.
Citroen 2CV was cute!

Vega ran a close second with aluminum cylinder sleeves, Duh! Good going Chevy!

I used to race Pintos, fairly low CoG, cheap and plentifull parts.

I voted Hummer.

What's the deal with the Pontiac, Aztek? Never ridden, never driven, can't even form a clear mental picture.

12. The 2CV helped restore France's economy after the War.
Both Allied and German operations during WW2 had virtually destroyed France's transportation infrastructure, particularly rail service, which had been the primary way of moving goods before the War.

The 2CV was designed to be built as cheaply as possible, so that French farmers could afford them, and become self-reliant in getting their produce to market. For a few years after WW2, the ONLY way to get around France was by 2CV.

The originals were made from stamped, recycled steel (much of it was scrapped munitions and aircraft) fixed, flat glass, and the interiors consisted of a single canvas sling for a seat. There were no electrical accessories except head and brake lights, and all mechanicals were operated by spring and cable; no hydraulics at all. If I remember correctly, the original suspensions were made from curved streesed steel springs, and shocks which were essentially hollow rubber bags which were kept inflated by engine exhaust.

13. I saw a 2CV fully restored being driven in Portland last week.
If I recall, my Pintos all had Canadian engines and German transmissions. The door hinges always went first.

16. yep, the Pinto engine was made at the Oakville, Ontario plant.
Now that's where most Ford minivans are made.

Bad date car. The things leaked and it was never quite clear if we would get stuck on the highway.

9. The Mercury Sable was the worst car I ever owned, but I voted Hummer.
It is absolutely sick to make or own a Hummer in these times.

22. No one should vote for anything but the Yugo
Most of the cars are on that list just because they're fuckin' ugly.

Honda Element? Scion xB? Both of them are really great cars.

Citroen 2CV? The car that brought France back after World War II? Ugly as shit, and full of 1940s technology, but it works okay and anyone can fix it.

If the Pinto would have had the gas tank ANYWHERE but where it was, it would have never made this list because it was a decent little car. And if it was a defective gas tank that caused all those fires, howcum the fix for it was a plastic plate and not a new tank?

The worst part about the Vega was that aluminum engine block with cast-iron cylinder liners. Cast-iron liners have a long history of excellent service in heavy-duty diesels, which is where they got the idea...but on a big diesel, the block is cast-iron too. Except for the worthless engine, the Vega is a typical mid-seventies Detroit car...neither great nor horrid.

The Hummer? There are reasons to buy this vehicle. It's a quality car. Okay, it gets three gallons to the mile, it's got shit for cargo capacity and it's so expensive most people who own one won't take it off-road for fear a twig might scratch it or a little mud splash up on it, which is what you're SUPPOSEDLY buying the car to do. If I was a civil engineer I'd buy one of these cars--civil engineers go places and do things the Hummer was intended to do. Mom taking the kids to soccer practice is NOT what the Hummer was intended to do, and anyone who buys it for such vain things should have his or her butt kicked.

But the Yugo? It is the George W. Bush of automobiles.
