So I took my dog to the vet to have her teeth worked over.... she
comes home and has a red welt on her neck... is scratching, develops red dimples on her stomach. Take her to the vet, analysis: Staph. Possibly due to allergies and scratching. Ok. Whatever, one cortisone shot and 70 some dollars worth of anti-biotics later she has again developed a red "pimple" on her belly.

Now I will prove what has been shown to be true in thousands of humans. She just got three eyedroppers full of glyconutrients. In a few days, the truth will be known, and my wife will become a believer... and all will be well with my little friend.

1. I have a dog with recurrent staph
Edited on Sun Nov-27-05 04:20 PM by China_cat
The symptoms will go away spontaneously. BUT...they will recur with stress. Sometimes it'll come back shortly, sometimes it'll even take years. But staph never goes away completely.

Oh, and don't allow any more steroids. Steroids turn staph into a nightmare.

Edited to add, staph doesn't come from scratching. I'd change vets if I were you because the bacteria is most often picked up in a medical facility that doesn't take extra care in their cleaning protocol. Humans are more likely to pick it up in a hospital and animals at the vet or a kennel.

2. How did your pooch "get" staph? I heard we all have it... we all
live with it... what is it that makes it "blossom"? Lowered immunity? Cuz if so, I am on the right track with the glycos.

3. Stress causes Rosie to come out in

lesions and blow coat at the same time. Another new animal in the house, a trip, holidays used to do it.

If you have other animals, don't use grooming tools you use on your staph patient on them. You could spread it.

She had it when we adopted her. She picked it up at the shelter while she was there.

4. And the vet was telling me it was just because of "allergies" or
scratching.... methinks he was trying to put a good face on it... anyway, this is why I will have her on the glycos... I have seen what they can do, both in humans and animals.

5. Well, changing Rosie's food
to one without ground yellow corn in it did help. Read the ingredients. Corn, soy and wheat are the top 3 sensitivities in dogs with corn about 3 times above soy and wheat.

At first it meant 2 outbreaks a year instead of 5. As time has gone on, her last recurrence was about 4 years ago. We do expect to start seeing them more often though as she's 12 years old now, almost 13...very old for a giant breed (Bouvier) that has a life span of about 10. Nothing more stressful than old age.
