Dogpile in the lounge!!!!!
Edited on Sun Nov-27-05 01:27 PM by Syncronaut Seven
I need MORE people to tell me what an asshole I am!

Or perhaps to interject with opinions I've never heard before.

Mods, I don't think it's against the rules to call yourself out, If so, my apologies. :silly:

Edit: oops... Link!

4. Hot topic apparently, sacred cow?
Who knew? Never had DU'ers pile on that hard before, but I'm beginning to see the cliquishness that others have bemoaned.

Another lesson in the school of life I guess.

Thanks for being humane! ;)

5. OR, maybe you just happen to be wrong?
And your way of communicating with anyone who disagrees with you is by apparently doing whatever you can to alienate them.

7. Like my clinical teacher used to tell us, "If everyone is telling you
that you are wrong, perhaps you should listen to that."

Doesn't always work that way, but it's worth considering.

8. No no no
clearly, if everyone is telling you you're wrong, they're all part of a clique just based on their agreement on one issue, and you should call them out for it covertly.

13. Oh, yeah - that's right.
I was totally mistaken!

Obviously, they've made a secret pact behind your back and you should fear them and be paranoid.

Nice catch!

17. I always consider that possibility. I've been wrong before.
Childhood and adolescent development has been a hobby of mine since I could diferentiate cause and effect. Plus I have kids, 2 grown and gone, one still in the house.

Notice how the dogpile followed to the new thread, same active players. I started the second thread to examine my own role, Not continue a flame war. I'm not adverse to constructive criticism.

18. I was humane but you goofed.
Try to exercise caution

And I'll read the flame war first next time ...

Word to the wise ... when you screw up let it drop like a stone.

6. I think the problem was just the blanket statement
you made about all, or most, gamers. I'm fairly neutral on that subject since I like video games, but I would not call myself "hardcore". However, I can see why some of the hardcore gamers would be offended by what you said.

9. Yes, the blanket statement was not accurate, rarely are such broad
generalizations. It was just sort of snarky on my part, not a deliberate attempt to start a flame war.

Sure touched a nerve though.

14. Yeah, snarky generalizations...
Like telling GiC that she's on par with alcoholics and wife beaters because she strongly believes (and backs up her assertions) that video games aren't horrible drugs and can actually be benificial for kids.

Nooo, THAT'S not flaming at all. :eyes:

12. Wow
A unique and refreshingly candid opinion on video gamers and flamers that, S.S. I will NOT call you an asshole. I understand and accept much of what you say, I am enlightened by your filtering techniques on job applications.

I am a "vidiot", I own an X-Box and a PS-2. I have spent hundreds of hours being entertained by these gadgets. I also own a nice TV, it has been the focal point for tons of entertainment as well. My computer is a recent fixation. (I love football too.)

Perhaps in your estimation I have wasted much of my time being entertained. I have not looked on those hours as wasted, I enjoyed them. It was my choice to be entertained this way.

What entertainment another makes is his or her choice. Don't you agree that everyone should have the right to choose that which they feel to be entertainment?

I am disturbed somewhat by those who find this concept challenging. Examples of that are those who think organized sports should be banned and willingly vote against funding a new stadium for that reason only. I can understand voting 'no' for economic reasons but I am disturbed by those naysayers who vote this way because they feel that this is not "good" entertainment.

There is a certain "holier than thou" smugness attitude going on here with those who would curb access to another's source for entertainment.
I will point no fingers here but there was a bit of that going on in that thread. I did enjoy your defenses, you have a sharp wit which I admire if truth be told and I have learned a bit about video gamers which makes sense now from reading your words.

Call you an asshole? No way in hell. You have a different perspective than I. I will remember the name Syncronaut Seven and I look forward to reading your posts on future topics.

16. Well I am a hardcore gamer and I love to read.
I read a lot of WW2 history and Political Satire. I am reading the WW2 history to learn more of what my grandfather went through, and I read the political satire to partly learn and laugh at the royal fuck up that Bush has made of this country. SO to say all hard core gamers are ignorant is a little like saying all handicapped people are retarded.
