I'm in trouble...
Edited on Sat Nov-26-05 06:26 PM by JonathanChance
I lost my keys sometime this weekend while coming up to see my folks for thanksgiving, in addition to my car keys, I had my dorm key, and a number of keys to the comm building on campus. I don't know where they are, but If I can't find them by tomorrow, I'm in trouble.

Not only will I have to pay 25 bucks to have the lock replaced in the dorm, for some ungodly reason, If I cannot get the comm building keys back by the end of the semester next month, I will be financially responsible for the changing of every lock in the comm building (Even though I only have keys that will only open three locks in the entire building.

If push comes to shove, I am more than willing to pony up to replace the three locks that my keys opened, but I do not see why I should have to pay to replace the rest of the locks in the building. WTF is up with that?

Damn, I'm so screwed here....

1. Tony, tony look around, somethings lost and can't be found.
That is the chant/prayer that I have used since I was a kid when I lose something. (It comes from the Catholic belief that Saint Anthony is the patron saint of loss causes and belongings, I believe.)

To be honest, it seems to work. I'm not sure if it is because there is any sort holy power to it or if it just helps me relax and stop worrying about what I have lost. Once I stop looking and let my mind relax, I often find what what it is I have misplaced.

Good luck to you, I hope it works out. :hi:

13. Actually, I think it is okay for non Catholics to address him as
"tony" - I might be pushing it as a Catholic. :hi:

3. Get a big huge magnet like the size of case of beer
just lug that sucker around all over the place, it'll find the keys. That or check the snowbanks by the driveway

4. Sending good vibes your way that what is lost will soon be found.
I'm sure you've done the obvious re-tracing of your steps, right?

Good luck, friend!

8. I smoke plenty of the reefer and I've never lost my keys.
It's not the drug losing the keys, it's the person. :hippie:

9. I feel your pain
I work at a psychiatric hospital and losing work keys gets you a whole lot of negative attention from the BigBoss. Sure enough, I lost my set of keys so they charged me 5 bucks a key to get a new set, and gave me a pretty good lecture about not screwing up again.
Six months later I found the keys I'd lost and now I have a back-up set cuz there's no way in hell I'll ever let them know I have two.
I know your situation must be driving you insane. Good luck.

16. Ok, listen to me. Get a portable phone. Call someone you know well. Walk
through every moment of your time from the last moment you know you had your keys. It's very important to say it out loud, and if possible, be in the same physical locations and act out your physical actions.

This happened to a friend of mine, and she had significant cash and lots of credit cards in her purse, which she was convinced had been stolen. She had just set it down in a weird place because she got distracted as she was entering her house.

It took about 20 minutes for her to talk through her actions on the phone, but she found her purse before cancelling all those cards and totally freaking out about the cash.

Try it. Hope it works!
