Have you seen the movie "RENT" ? If so,

would love a DU-Revue :) I'm a Renthead from the Broadway show and the NYT review tells me I may be disappointed?

1. My Renthead friend LOVED it.

She saw it opening day, and I just got a chance to talk to her tonight. She thought it was fantastic, and she is now officially in love with Jesse L. Martin.

She said that Angel is a better done character in the film, that's the only specific thing that stood out....she said that Rosario and Tracy (?) did great for not being in the original cast.... she really loved it and wants to see it again.

And this is a gal who's loved this show since 1997.

5. surpisingly good

I expected not to like it because I hated other recent movie musicals like Chicago and Moulin Rouge. I had not seen Rent on stage so didn't know the story or the music. But I really liked it. The performances were great. Jesse Martin, wow, what a revelation! (I only knew him from Law & Order where his character is pretty low key.) Rosario Dawson was perfect.

6. Much better than I expected.

They cut out some songs (understandable when the soundtrack is two full CDs), but Rosario Dawson did a great job, considering she was one of the few non-Broadway cast members. I was impressed.
