What I Woke Up To This Morning
MrsRetro was ready for work so I offered to go out and start her van for her so it would be warm. This is what I found...

Notice the distinct point of impact from the pellet of bb gun in photo 2.

Luckily insurance will cover all of it. Still sucks...

4. Nothing slolen.
Van was FULL of cd's stacked on the floor, in the glovebox, in the console.

Nothing missing. Just random vandalism. Well, I hope it was random...

How horrifying for you to find such a n awful thing......
WHY on earth would anyone do this? I am in shock......

My complete sympathies.....This should not happen to you, of all people........

I didn't understand the reference in pic #2....what was the point of impact?

Hope they find out who did it, and that you can put this trauma behind you quickly....

7. Damn
That sucks.

I have never seen so much damage from a pellet gun. That must of been a hell of a pellet gun?!

Are you sure it wasn't a .22?

11. I'm sorry you woke to this destruction, I really am.
I know how upsetting it is to go to sleep with everything in tact only to wake to destruction. It does suck  but thank god no one was harmed and your insurance does cover it. Perspective is everything.

unfortunately, my insurance refuses to cover it.

Never forget the Katrina survivors and help them by making sure the government either makes the corporations do what is right or steps in to help them rebuild. Hell, my governor was in Iraq serving meals to the troops on TDay, I just wanted to shake him and ask, what about the citizens in your own state? Folks are still living in tents, the free meals served by the religious organizations and charities were so necessary as it is so hard to cook a turkey on a coleman stove.

Please forgive my highjacking of your thread, I just have an obsession with keeping the struggles and the efforts of the Katrina survivors alive.

I am glad you and yours are safe. :grouphug:

17. I suspect that if you were in my shoes, you would handle yourself
in a like manner. It is a matter of doing what you have to do to survive, to keep going. I would surmise that you would be even more determined as you have a family to take care of and protect.

When I am feeling sorry for myself I remember that there are families that lost loved ones in the storm, there are dispatchers for the law enforcement agencies that took calls from people they could not help, their duties required that they listen to cries for help that they were powerless to provide, there were neighbors that listened to the cries that could not help their neighbors, the cries for help will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

I was blessed that I could help save my loved ones in the storm, that we were successful in our efforts to get everyone to safety despite the winds and the waves. I don't have the haunting memories of cries for help that could not be answered, I don't have the memories of the hands that lost their grips in the storm waters. I have the memory of small arms clinging to my neck as I carried them to safety and how blessed I am that I was successful.

I try to keep things in perspective and remember that I am luckier than many, I have my little femansion and am not in a tent, I have my wits and my health and I don't have to go to sleep at night worrying how I will cloth my kids in the winter or how can I make their Christmas happy given they lost everything too.

As bad things are, there are others that have it much worse than I do.
I allow myself the anger and the sadness, then I try to shake it off and remember how blessed I am. I have wonderful friends here on DU that help me remember to keep things in perspective, I am glad you don't mind that I followed their example here.

Thanks for the hug, I do appreciate it.

15. I bet someone with a pellet rifle did that.
I have a pellet rifle that pumped up has the power of a 22, a BB gun couldn't have power to break a window.

That's will cost a lot of money to repair.

21. Same damage can be done with an antenna from a car.
Not the telescoping type, the one piece rigid type.
Snap it like a whip and it shatters the glass.

27. Same thing happened in our neighborhood earlier in the summer
they got 16 cars by my count, and we had to pay a $45 deductible. No bumper stickers - it was indiscriminate. When we mentioned it to the cops, the just made some comment about not having the time to deal with stuff like this with all of the major crimes and murder taking up their time.
At least they didn't use an AK-47.

29. I believe I would get one of those rubber bullet bb guns and
carve a nice "murder hole" somewhere or find a nice bush to hide behind and wait for that little crumb snatcher who did that. They would learn. Their parents need to teach them to act better than that. If the parents wouldn't and they did that to me, I would be furious.

when this happened. Especially seeing the child safety seat right there! Be careful to remove the cover and get all the glass out of the seat.

I'm so sorry...What a shitty thing for someone to do!

32. Hooray for guns!
Parents who buy their kids or teens guns need to have their heads examined.

I hope the police catch the jagoffs who did this to your van, and that they get prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
