3. I'll admit the movie was a bit of a disappointment
But I'm sure the four Black Russians were the culprit.

7. Beats me
Edited on Fri Nov-25-05 03:57 AM by BuffyTheFundieSlayer

My speculation has something to do with it having Vodka, which is known for being the "official" Russian liquor, and when you add Kahlua it is very dark in color. "Dark Brown Russian" would sound silly, so perhaps that's why they call it a Black Russian.

If you add milk to it it's called a White Russian.

8. Nope..
No explosion -- I have only consumed a few pieces of pizza today..

No family, No loved ones -- My sister decided to cancel dinner. I was supposed to go to her house..

But, she did come over around 9 PM to drop off some food for me. I now have massive amounts of turkey and mashed potatoes, 24 rolls, and a huge bowl of spinach salad. And a whole pumpkin pie and cherry cheesecake.

She Rules....

:hi:

OK, I was going to post the photo of Mr. Creosote exploding, but I don't want to make you sick.

I'm OK. I miss New Orleans... I go back in about 3 weeks. I don't look forward to all the clean up work I have to do for the next year or so, but at least (according to my brother who is there now) you can't smell dead bodies anymore (unless one goes deep into the 9th Ward, for ex.). I'm glad the garbage trucks came and picked up my two refrigerators. When I drug them out of the house a month ago, they smelled as bad as rotting human remains... that was the salmon steaks I suppose. My nose will never be the same. :puke:

25. Yes, we fell off the media radar, like Indonesia, and other disasters, etc
There are about 100,000 people living there now, but many will be leaving due to lack of housing for the wealthy. Of course, others will move in, but they will NOT be original residents. The population in New Orleans now is about the same as it was around 1850.

Yes, most of the poor to middle income residents will not be able to afford to live in their home town because Tulane and Loyola University need housing for rich students from Connecticut, New York, Monaco etc. They are going to try to turn New Orleans into a playground for the rich and famous, what I call "McNew OrleansLand." There's not much we can do to stop it because so many Americans don't give a fuck about our city (notwithstanding all the great DUers here), and we are too tired from just trying to survive to fight Donald Trump et al, from transforming our city into a casino paradiso.

28. that is bad and sad
I was two times in New Orleans (ok, only in the French Quarter) but both times I enjoyed your city very much and was fascinated by the life within.

It really sucks that a city is turned into a Disneyworld and that (almost) nobody is thinking of the families who lost so much and more and who are trying to survive and want to move back to the city they love.

34. New Orleans may not survive.
Republicans do not want to fund a rebuilding of our levee and canal system - our Homeland Defense. Go figure? :eyes: We need Dutch, German, French and Italian, et al, engineers to come to our rescue! ... sehr schnell, bitte.

I tell you this: Mardi Gras 2006 may be the last Mardi Gras ever, or at least that's how I'm lookin' at it. So, I will party my ass off and play in every carnival krewe that wants our samba band. I expect to play in at least three parades and/or Mardi Gras balls.

If you can, I suggest you come to New Orleans for this momentous Mardi Gras! Le bon temps roule! :smoke:

I don't understand that. They want the rich people to come to live in NO. Now why wouldn't they want to rebuild the levee and canal system when there is the danger that the same thing happens again but to "their" people?

40. Bushler cut our funding by 44% on June 8th, 2004
Federal money for levee renovation etc. (we do not have enough in our local budget to pay for it). It was over 71 million dollars that was cut. Actually, we had been BEGGING for more! But what do they do? CUT our funding... then give no-bid contracts to halliburton to rebuild, just in case there was a disaster... does this start to sound fishy to you yet? (hint: I am a grad student in a department associated with city planning, mapping, engineering, maritime, etc.)

Btw, why did you say my pictures ain't showing?

Can you see this? :)

48. No, but I almost got into a fight with my cat.
I'm a bottomless pit when it comes to food. So, no, I can glutton myself and get away with it.

I did something different this year.

My aunt and I had a good old fashioned fish fry in place of turkey this year. My cat, Sunday Girl, is worse than I am over fish. Her eyes cross. She gets bossy. She counts mouthfuls of food. No kidding. She does. I feel around in the fish to remove the bones and take a bite, then I get some for her and the other two patient polite cats, Yogi and Domino. I eat another bite and then scoop some slaw and pork and beans onto my fork and repeat the process. Well, if I try to take two bites of fish, she gets all irriated and screams at me and tries to take it out of my mouth. It's funny in a way. I'm so thankful for my aunt and my cats. That's what I gave thanks for more than anything this year. And the good eatin'.

50. LOL
I can see it like I was there. With my last cat we were lucky enough that she didn't care what was on the table. She only went once on the table. My mom had bought salmon and you could see how our cat followed the smell. It was like she was in trance. It was hilarious. Other than that she didn't eat fish. Like me :)

I am happy for you that you had a peaceful day with your aunt and cats.

54. My aunt and I eat in the living room.
The kitchen and living room are sort of one big room. We can't have a table, per se, because my aunt needs the room to maneuver her scooter around. She can't walk. Anyhow, Sunday Girl is very much human according to Sunday Girl. She actually doesn't like cats even though she is one. She was hand raised by me so she doesn't understand the concept of "cat" in association with herself. To her, she is my daughter. She is very much like a human child right down to her temper tantrums. She is so funny.
