Would you make a good spy?
I think most people would not expect me to be a spy, which would give me an advantage, but I don't think I'm suspicious enough of other people.

1. Anyone Who Would Make A Good Agent, Ma'am
Edited on Fri Nov-25-05 02:09 AM by The Magistrate
Would be sure to answer, "No. I'd make a terrible spy."

"The art of secrecy consists in bing so open and frank about so may things that those things one wishes kept concealed are not even suspected to exist."

"Any three people can keep a secret, providing two of them are dead."

2. My dear yvr girl.......
I would make a LOUSY spy! I am way too noisy and obvious to be a good one...

And, like you, I am too accepting of other people to be a good spy.

However, I do have acute powers of observation when I feel like exerting myself....so that would be useful for being a spy....

3. No, I couldn't do it.
It's a long story, but I am not good at faking anything. I can't lie. I can't ass kiss. I can't hide my thoughts. I can't keep my mouth shut when I want to say something. And I can't trust anyone enough to decide if they actually deserve the information I gather or if I should share it with someone else instead. I'm just too blunt and too honest to be qualified for that position, sadly. It does look like it would be fun at least until some hateful old windbag like Robert Novak outs you.

4. No
I've been told my face is too expressive--that I'm not very good at hiding my feelings about things. Therefore I'd end up giving things away even without saying a word.

6. Yep.
I can read people like a book, and get them to tell me their most intimate thoughts without even trying (sometimes this is a very annoying ability to have).
Also I am a super sleuth. I basically have a photographic memory so I can walk into a room, then walk back in 2 hours later and tell what has happened by what things have moved and where.
Finally, I have a button nose. Spies don't have button noses. or dimples. No one would suspect a thing!

7. Yep
But I handily avoid The Magistrate's contribution by not actually being a spy, thusly allowing me to tell you about why I'd be a good one. Unless I'm using that as a cover for my career as a spy of course...you know, the old double-whoosiewhatsit.

I've got the physical skills and attributes for the James Bond violence stuff (maybe more like Flint!) but a definite deficit in firearms experience. No matter, because real-life James Bonds don't get to do any or much of that, unarmed or armed (if they do, it's usually a very bad thing that they have to). I have never yet blended into a crowd, but that could work to my advantage if a double-whoosiewhatsit more than compensates for being easily recognizable (people recognize me who've never met me, or even been in the same country as me -- I get that more than anyone I've yet met). After all, Ahnuld was a spy in some of his movies.

More to the point, I have a pretty strong analytical bent -- best evidence is perhaps a PhD in a scientific field -- but I have an even stronger intuitive streak, that could definitely come in handy. Really, I guess you could say that much of what we regard as intuition is actually our analytical selves working in the background. Whatever the case, I'm meticulous, very careful about 'leaving footprints,' and work well under pressure. I am observant (natural historian and inveterate people-watcher) and am constantly reassessing my surroundings (martial arts has helped there, as has riding a motorcycle so long) and making predictions about it.

I can also shut off all outward emotion to focus on the task at hand and a companion to that is that it can be hard to read my face. It can also be very easy, or so I'm told, if you know me in a certain way (wife, for example). Same with lying, for noble or less-than-noble reasons: I can be thoroughly convincing but my wife certainly claimed that she was able to tell when I was being less than forthcoming (of course, she could have been indulging in a bit of double-whoosiewhatsit, right there, herself).

She was a consummate liar but my intuition led me to bust her in her biggest lie of all and my patiently-probing analytical side filled in all the details...I mean everything: dates, times, restaurant and bar orders, store receipts, money spent, car rental, etc, etc, etc. And a second intuitive leap led me to something that I still almost cannot believe she tried to get away with -- she was audacious (contemptuous, too, I guess) but I nailed her, totally, and I'll never the look on her face when, after months of patient research and positioning myself, I showed up where she was (in another country, no less) and lay it on her. It was very Count of Monte Cristo.

Anyway, those're my qualifications. I'd probably make a good criminal, for that matter, and even get away with it.

9. in the course of my client/contract work i am required to wear wires...
and itsy-bitsy little Mp3 players into board rooms to ascertain compliance with a host of issues; it isn't like Valerie Plame stuff that's for sure, but in a sense i already am 'a spy', and i agree with you. i am a little, blond, white girl, 5-4, 114 lbs, and i can guarantee you most everyone under suspicion, involved in a session, are only looking at my tits anyway

23. Take the Spy Test
http://www.myyearbook.com/zenhex/quiz.php?id=10227

It's short, and hardly conclusive. However,my results... :smoke:

James Bond
One way or another, you've done rather well. If you took the quiz honestly, you might want to consider a career within the intelligence community. If you cheated to get here, well.... at least maybe you learned something in the process.
