What time was your Thanksgiving dinner?
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 09:53 PM by trof
I guess we're in a rut.
Miz t. and I usually start the attitude adjustment hour around fiveish.
Dinner/supper is served around 7:30.

Today, we were invited for 1 p.m.
The bar was open.
I really hate to drink alcohol before my appointed evening time.
Just messes me up for whatever remains of the day.
I get sleepy.

OK, today was a special occasion. I sipped a Scotch & soda.

We ate around 2:30.
It was delicious.

A couple more drinks, during and after.
Home at 4:30.
And totally effed up.
Stuffed at a time when I'm usually getting a bit peckish.
What the hell, fix another drink.

So now I'm half in the bag, still stuffed, and it's a while before bedtime.

Next year we're hosting, and it's a damn evening meal.
phew

I know...people have worse problems.
I'm SUCH a whiner.

25. Noon, theoretically. We actually began eating around 1, but
noon was a good try to get everyone there at one time.

When I hosted it we ate at 7 pm. I wanted that damn lameass Dallas game OVER with before dinner, and I got us all seated at ONE table too. It was fun.

I might do it again when the really little kids get a bit older. The nephew who hosts Thanksgiving currently has two really small kids and they just would rather have us all over than to drag the kids out with all their little kid paraphernalia. Don't really blame them.

So we had about 20 people, and a ton of food. And a very nice time.

4. 3: 15 pm in my basement
I could handle my fundie sister but not my jerkwad brother Don.
Soon as he opened the door he started crackin fat jokes and having his five and seven year old say punk crap. Honest he whisper crap like rush would say into thier ear and have them repeat it to me.
So saving grace I hid out and I am hidding out in my basement.

7. 2:30 P.M
Which is about right. . . we usually eat Thanksgiving between 2:30 and 3:00 P.M each year. Since we usually eat dinner around 4 P.M anyway . . . it's not an unusually early time.

10. I got up at 3pm (I work nights so I sleep days)
My roomie and her SO were working on the bulk of dinner so I had very little to do. I showered, dressed and began my laundry. I had a Black Russian and cut off a few slices of the Unturkey w/ stuffing I'd cooked the previous night to nuke for dinner. In the meantime I went to Blockbuster and ultimately ended up renting Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (The one with Johnny Depp). Upon returning I helped as much as possible with dinner prep while enjoying cocktails.

We sat down to dinner with sparkling cider (I had another cocktail as well). It was delicous and quite filling. Afterward we washed the dishes and put the leftovers away. Finally we settled down to watched the movie. Alas I fell asleep barely 1/3 of a way into it--too many Black Russians--and was awakened by my roomie telling me it was time for me to get ready to go to work. :-(

So here I am at work. I've collected two cups of pee for tox screens and done my rounds once in the bitter cold. At least I have some leftovers--Unturkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans--for dinner.

17. About 4:30
I drank a peppermint martini, a Corona, and a glass of wine (over a period of about 4 hours). It would have been more, but I had to drive 2 1/2 hours home.
