I had to sleep aboard my clam dredge the 'Vicky Mary' because the local people had threatened to burn it to the water line. They claimed I was ruining the environment which I wasn't.
On my first night sleeping aboard the Vicky with a load of clams a cat came aboard to visit. Ms. Cat showed an interest in my clams so I opened one for her then another and another. So every night when I was tied up to the dock and the crew had gone home Ms. Cat would come aboard for more clams. She would sleep on my chest purring away and smelling of clams.
For any Civil War buffs I was tied up at Breach Inlet, Isle of Palms very close to where the Confederate Submarine 'Hunley' put forth on her final journey.
I grew to love the 'Cat Eating Clams' and when Vicky Mary and I returned to McClellanville she sailed with me.
1. I put a plate of turkey down for my 3 cats tonight and they all ignored it

Even little Gloria who has known starvation in her sad past. However, seafood is quite a different story. I once had a kitty named Martha who ate so much shrimp she didn't move for 3 days. She did purr and seem totally blissed. edited because I can't spell worth a damn these days- or maybe I just can't type.
And redwitch? Redwitch? Where have i heard that name before. Ahh 'Wake of the Red Witch' A sailing ship book. Google tells me there was a movie. I do not recall the movie.
We were country people living at the edge of the Francis Marion Forest with lots of rooms for cats and dogs and children and creatures from the forest.
