I took my dog to the vet today.
On Saturday, I noticed that the right side of her face was swollen under her eye. It looks pretty bad and it is really hard when you press on it. It does not seem to bother her.

I called the vet today and the were urgent that I bring her in today. The vet said it could be a tooth root abcess, but seemed concerned that it was something worse. She has to take antibiotics for the next 7 days and next tuesday they are going to perform the surgery on her tooth (if that is what it is), and run a series of other tests.

I may seem to be overreacting, but I had a cat whose face swelled up like that from one day to the next and only lived for anther 2 weeks.

:scared: :scared:

I've been through the cat situation before, like you, so I can see how that would have you running to the vet today.

The best of the best wishes for you and your baby!

Edited for horrible grammar....

4. Thanks djeseru
I am pretty feeling stressed about it right now. Plus, I don't know how I could break any bad news about the dog to my 6 year old daughter.

6. Any poisonous snakes in your area?
I good ol' next door redcat is recovering from his second in a year.
Probably moccasins down here.

8. I am in upstate NY, and while I know there are rattlers about 20
miles north, I would think it too cold for them this time of year.

9. My dog was bitten by a black widow spider and the same
thing happened to him. It was on one side of his face near his mouth. The vet gave him a shot and the swelling went down in a few days.

We didn't know it was a spider bite. The vet asked if we had fire wood delivered recently. We just had it delivered the day before!

Sending positive thoughts your way and a belly rub for your doggie.

:-)

10. Hmmm. No firewood delivery lately but there are always
tons of spiders in the back yard. Again, I would think it too cold, but it has been warm recently.
