So when somebody introduces a Republican or neo-con to me
I say, "Oh really? I'll speak very slowly for you".

1. It's just very difficult for me
to look a banker in the eye these days knowing that although many of them are decent people they were still enablers for the bush regime.

3. Since when are bankers bad?
I must have missed something. And seeing as how I couldn't hate * or his cronies more than I already do, 'bankers' may be too broad a statement.

6. Well maybe if you could show me
that a majority of bankers vote Democratic I'd retract my statement. The financial services industry as a whole is dominated by republicans.

8. is that "bankers" as a whole or
bankers in red states? I've never heard anything about bankers in general voting red, but maybe I've just missed it. Now, if you ask about the fellow bankers I work with, I'd say probably the majority (at least 60 percent but probably not 90) vote repuke. However, I'm in the heart of repuke Kansas so it's to be expected.

I usually try to let blanket statements roll off of me, but for some reason this one is really getting to me. Maybe I'm just a softie today.

10. Bankers as a whole.
I'm just repeating a widely held belief that bankers, insurance companies, brokerage houses are overwhelmingly republican strongholds.
Judging from your experience that would seem to be incorrect. I apologize for broad brushing the banking profession.

11. No need to apologize
I just have never heard that before. And, like I said, I think I'm being overly sensitive today.

But thanks for not including me in your statement even though I'm a banker! :hi:

15. Apparently you don't bank in Massachusetts
Otherwise you would not have made such an asinine statement.

17. You Are Correct In That
I'm on the board of directors of a small bank. (Independent, so no big chain, but still about a quarter billion in assets.)

Two board members are clearly liberals. The rest are moderate to right. The staff is mostly liberterian leaning republicans (at least the mgmt. staff.)

When you look at both individual banks and organizations, banks give a vast preponderance of PAC money to repubs. Even our bank gives more than 5:1 to PACs that are interested in advancing repub candidates. Bugs me to no end. I usually don't vote against it, but abstain on those PAC votes. Everyone knows where i stand, and my no vote won't change anything anyway.

The state banking PAC, here in IL, gave NOTHING to Blagoivich. Nothing! They gave Jerry Weller the maximum allowable by law. They even sent money Alan Keyes way, despite the fact that we all knew he would be slaughtered by Obama.

So, the evidence is on your side.
