I'm so unmotivated tonight...
Things that need to be done:

Tape and put paint stripper goop on more moldings in the kitchen
Catch up on homework/reading/essays
Go grocery-shopping (in the rain, wheeee!)

Instead, I am playing on DU. Damn the Lounge, you are a sinkhole for my motivation!

1. I know what you mean.
I have got to the point that if I really have something to do, I do not turn on the computer because I go to DU first. Then nothing gets done, I am spending more and more time in the Lounge.

3. LOL, yup....
The computers are always on in our house. Usually, if I've got stuff to get done, I can manage to find some motivation. But Briarius is asleep, there's no music on (yet), and it's cold and dark and rainy. Not a good combo!

2. I'm (attempting to) work on a paper that was due last Friday...
but I'm not doing it. Why, you ask? The paper topic is uninteresting (It's on a freakin' rock formation...yawn) and there's better things to do (watch the Vikings game and WWE Raw!).

So yeah. That's that.

4. Excellent....
Neither of those things would hold my attention (TV-wise), but there is something for everyone :) I have to write about art history in the 1700s... and art of Africa... wheeee! :bounce:

7. That topic is better than a rock formation.

:)

And far more interesting.

9. Hrm... maybe
Are you a geo major, or just doing it as a gen-ed? I dated a guy for a while who was majoring in it, and some of it seemed pretty interesting, but some of it awfully dry, too.

11. You know what's funny?
I'm majoring in it!

But I have lost most interest in it awhile ago. I've decided to tough it out for one more semester (when I graduate) and then I'll decide what I want to do.

12. Bummer, dude...
Must be really frustrating to make yourself get through it... any chance you can still find an application for it that you'd enjoy?

13. You have no idea how frustrating it is...
it really sucks. :(

But, there are a couple of things I'd like to do in geology, such as a jeweler (I hear they make good money :silly:) or maybe something in caves...that's about it.

16. I've got one year left in Electrical Engineering
And I'm not sure I'm going to do it. I hear ya, dude. I do hope that once you get through it, you're able to find a use for it that you truly enjoy! Caves are cool :bounce:

but I have this ugly feeling that I'll be coming back to college within a few years. :(

I've had enough school all ready. I was planning on going to grad school, but not anymore. I've been in school since I was five (I'm 23 now), and now I'm (mentally) burnt out.

Who knows. I know I'll find something. :)

Electrical engineering, eh? That must be a tough degree to do. You must be one smart person to be pursuing a degree in that field! That's something I couldn't do!

14. Ooh...which art history?
My former major, dear. Perhaps I can help.

I am avoiding cleaning house before my mom gets here and bathing (I'm unemployed, and have been sitting around all day like a bum doing what else? Writing family history).

This is the only thing that consumes my days and nights now. I know I need to compose a resume and start looking for jobs, but it's just not as much fun as delving into the nooks and crannies of the Smith family. I have almost 300 pages.

15. Art history since 1400....
At the moment, the 18th century in Europe and the Americas. I'm learning a lot, and up until about two weeks ago was doing great about keeping up in class and with homework and such. Right now, not so much. I'm going to go do the easy parts of the homework, at least... defining terms, short-answer questions. The essays, I just need to start on. That's always the hardest, for me.

When I get to writing my museum paper about the Prague artwork at the Met from the late 1300s, maybe I'll give you a buzz :bounce:

Have fun visting with your mom and good luck with the house and self-cleaning, LOL!

20. Hmmmm...
Prague artwork at the Met?

In all of the brazillion classes I've had, I don't think any of them covered those particular works!

Have fun with my mom? Ahhhh....there's a novel concept.

I'm afraid it's a virtual impossibility. I'll be having a REALLY large drink after her departure, I'm afraid.

21. Yeah, it's the stuff around the int'l style time...
What was called "Beautiful Style"... it seemed like a good paper topic, given a lot of extenuating circumstances about my visit that day (extreme fatigue, clingy classmate, etc.) But my notes suck. Ah well.

Sorry to hear that things aren't good with your mom

5. Yeah, when did it start raining?
I went out for a smoke a bit ago at work and I got all wet.

But look at the bright side, it's November in CT. It could be snowing! :hi:

As you can see, lots to do, but not making much progress tonight. I can't wait for classes and painting to be done! Glad work is going by quickly for you tonight :)

25. Life is good.
We had the furnace repaired yesterday.

But just to give us all a break, I'm having 3 cords of wood delivered on Wednesday for this

Our new stove will be black and should be installed early in December. I'll have to order a 48" x 48" piece of blue-stone first.

I'm glad your furnace is fixed. That wood stove looks excellent.... are you getting split wood, or are you going to split it yourself?

29. I'll split the kindling but the wood is seasoned hardwood ready for burnin'
I have a feeling I know who is going to be stacking wood for a while. I haven't done that in 15 years so I'll be doing a little everyday.

18. All those things can wait.
I'm sure there's SOMETHING in the house to eat until it stops raining.

Why be cold, wet & miserable going to the store when it's warm & dry inside?

I'm relaxing tonight, that's fer damsure; had the two meetings in Mass. today and locked up about $70K of business spread out over the next 9 months...that was definitely worth getting up at 5 AM and dealing with Route 128 traffic.

24. Yes, both meetings worked out well.
And good for the ego as well; I left both parties convinced that they're lucky to have the opportunity to send me checks...can't lose 'em all, can we?

Stay warm!

Good when you can get things to play that way!

I will definitely stay warm... two adults, a toddler, and a puppy dog makes for a warm bed, even without the 3 blankets! LOL

28. I have the propane firelogs going...nice and toasty.
Time to hit the rack, though. Funny how driving a long way and having meetings, even though you're mostly just sitting, can be so tiring...not, as you can imagine, that I sit still for very long in meetings. And it works; getting up and striding around whole you talk and gesticulate (especially if you're my size and color) realy gets their attention.

Stop typing and drift off, kiddo. I'm going to. It's a nice night to doze.
