Any Chris Whitley Fans? Sad (But Not Unexpected) News

According to posts on his website, from his brother, CW is in the final stages of lung cancer and getting hospice care.

For those who never got past "Living with the Law," Whitley was an amazing artist. His 1996(?) tour from the Terra Incognita was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever attended.

I think there are a lot of his fans who aren't surprised by this, only at the "how" factor.

And for those who say hand-rolled cigarettes are better for you - Chris rolled his own. He's young. 45 or so.

I know he wasn't huge, but for some of us, very inspirational. An artist down the hall from my office has a huge (like 6x9 canvas) portrait he painted, of Chris wailing away.
