So how much time off is too much?
So I've taken 28 days off so far this year. Sounds like a lot, right? Well, I'm actually entitled to about 50 days off because of my company policies and accrued leave that I didn't take last year.

However, now a certain person is after me about taking too much time off. I say if they don't want me to take it off, why do they give it to me. According to the database I still have 21 days remaining that I could potentially, legally take.

What do you think? Should I make a stink with HR that this person is giving me a hard time about days I'm entitled to, or should I just nod and take this person's abuse because 28 days is a lot? I should mention that this person outranks me.

1. Make a stink with HR
you accrued those days, they are rightfully yours. if the higher up doesn't like it, tell him to take up the days off policy with management.

3. I agree
If you're entitled to the time off, you're entitled to the time off.

4. See if they'll pay you for the days.
Sometimes they'll buy back time from you if it's critical for you to be at work. Definitely see HR about it, though.

I worked with a real jerk one time who said that if he owned the company, he would give everyone 6 weeks vacation ... and fire anyone who actually took it. He ended up being my manager. There are people like that and, sadly, they end up in charge of REAL people.

5. 21 days more, better hurry!
Sounds like a job for Ralph Nader!

I have about 400+ accumulated but by law we cannot share, yet they always ask for donated time from those who accumulate at a lower pace.

Good luck smashing 'em!
