What is that, a Kymco? 250cc?

This is my scooter, doesn't go as fast as yours, only goes 55-60 mph, but I bet I get better gas mileage, for even with my size and weight I'm getting 100mpg.

It is a Bajaj Chetak, from India. It's the best selling scooter in the world. Runs great, little 145cc four stroke engine, four speed manual, which I love for the pick up factor. I've got a 52 mile round trip commute and am saving tons of money. I love my little bike, especially when I pull up to the gas pump.

16. I hear ya, sixteen degrees this morning, but dry
So off to work I went:) But I've got a great jacket, three layers, plus the ballistic nylon elbow, shoulder and spine pad. Cost me a pretty penny, but it is worth it. Warm, wind resistant, and rainproof. Now, if I could only heat my helmet;)

27. Oh, the clutch is working out fine
It is a hand shift, not a foot shift as on bigger bikes, which I personally like better. Shift points are at 10, 20, and 30 mpg. It is great, for on those little bikes that are automatic transmissions, I've noticed that their pick up from a dead stop is rather slow, which will get you killed in traffic. With the manual tranny, your pickup is fast and snappy.

The only drawback that I've found on my bike is the alert turn for the turn signals. Much too loud and annoying, and at some point I might take care of that.

Otherwise, I find it to be a great bike. Feels quite stable going down the road, and has a very smooth ride. I don't know where you live, but if you get any sort of bugs at all, I highly recommend getting a windshield, if for no other reason than to catch the bugs.

Good luck with your bike. Yeah, I would be waiting on the '06 models myself, but I scoured six states a couple of months ago to get a remaining '05 model then. I had to travel a couple of hundred miles to get it, but the investment of time and gas was worth it.

Don't ignore your break in time. I realize that it limits your top speed, but only for five hundred miles, and that break in time is vital to the health and longetivity of your bike.

Good luck, and many miles of happy motoring.

I'm not sure I could fit an infant carrier on that thing. Is there one with a sidecar?

12. That shit is tight.
I want more details. Where are you allowed to drive it? Surely not the highway? What kind is it? Do you need a motorcycle licence for it?

My questions need answers!

14. What are the insurance requirements?
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 05:48 PM by T Roosevelt
Been considering a Vespa, and I've noticed they have essentially two models - the low power (~45mph) and the high power (70+ mph) versions.

The low power one is treated like a moped - no special insurance required.

17. Go for the higher end
You'll get run over with those little twist 'n go scooters, they have really poor pickup off of a dead stop, not fun in traffic.

Insurance isn't much, I've got full coverage for mine, $340/yr.

Check with your state laws too, with the higher powered model you will probably have to get a motorcycle license. Most states will only let you drive without one if your engine is less than 50cc in size.

20. Riiiide On....
It's another lonely evening
And another lonely town
But I ain't too young to worry
And I ain't too old to cry
When a woman gets me down
Got another empty bottle
And another empty bed
Ain't too young to admit it
And I'm not too old to lie
I'm just another empty head

That's why I'm lonely
I'm so lonely
But I know what I'm gonna do

I'm gonna ride on
Ride on
Ride on, standing on the edge of the road
Ride on, thumb in the air
Ride on, one of these days I'm gonna
Ride on, change my evil ways
Till then I'll just keep ridin' on

Broke another promise
And I broke another heart
But I ain't too young to realize
That I ain't too old to try
Try to get back to the start
And it's another red light nightmare
Another red light street
And I ain't too old to hurry
Cause I ain't too old to die
But I sure am hard to beat

But I'm lonely
Lord I'm lonely
What am I gonna do

Ride on
Ride on, got myself a one-way ticket
Ride on
Ride on, going the wrong way
Ride on, gonna change my evil ways
Ride on, one of these days
One of these days

Ride on
Ride on
I'm gonna ride on
Ride on, looking for a truck
Ride on
Ride on, keep on riding
Riding on and on and on

26. When I was a kid in India
I witnessed a dude spill on his scooter. It was the most disguisting death you can imagine. There were no organs left to donate. But then in Asia, there are no traffic rules, sort of like Atlanta.
