Poll question: So..... give me some hope.
How old were you the first time you went on a date?

Still looking. :(

1. I was 17.
I really didn't want to date anyone until I could drive. I just couldn't bear the idea of having mommy and daddy drive me and my date around. Plus, I don't think I was really ready for it til then anyway.

How old are you?

2. 24-25, because before that I really wasn't dating...
It was more like going out with friends.

So it was almost a quarter century after I was born before I actually asked a woman out, cleaned all the trash out of my car, washed my car, got some nice clothes, got a haircut, took a shower, shaved, bought flowers and a gift (a vegetarian cookbook!), and showed up on her doorstep...

I'd like to say my first "real" date turned out well, but it didn't.

In fact, none of my dates turned out very well until I asked my wife out.

3. I don't think I ever really had a traditional
get-picked-up-at-my-door-with-flowers kind of date, but I went out with someone in a date-like way when I was 15.

4. I put down that my first time on a date .......
was between the ages of 18-20. I did go out a little in HS, but it was always to the Sadie Hawkins dances, where the girl gets to ask the boy......

REAL dating started in college, and I'm not sure just how old I was...

Probably a sophomore, as that was the first year I lived away from home...

Let me just say that I'd been a real wall-flower until then. I made up for lost years in a big way....married when I was 21, and am still married to him, 40 years later!

Never give up!

:)

5. Sixteen.
I wasn't allowed to date before then.

It took me a very long time to find Mr. Right, though. :)

8. first date - Senior year high school fix-up
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 06:16 PM by Patiod
His dad owned the Phillies, (well, part-owned) and my mother hasn't forgiven me that it never went anywhere.

First real the guy asked ME out - freshman year of college

Didn't go to my HS prom (too tall) either

When I went through sorority rush, one of the girls said "we have 3 formals a year - don't you love formals?" I wasn't about to admit to these cheerleaders/homecoming queens that I didn't go to my prom, so I said yes (they were great girls though, and I wound up there, spending WAY too much time and energy trying to scare up formal dates every year)
