Ok, this I don't understand - Handicapped Plates on a Hummer???

I mean, I was thought that the handicapped sticker was for people who had problems with mobility. We give them special license plate and they get the parking spot closest to the store and the spaces are wide enough to accommodate the person getting in and out of their vehicle.

Geez, you need a freakin elevator to get in and out of a hummer, doesn't seem like the best choice for someone who is handicapped!

able to drive what they want!! :shrug: I don't get it though! When I pulled up to work today I saw a Hummer outside. I wanted to ask who it belonged to but decided against it since I might start having a negative attitude towards that person!! :shrug: Some people are just ignorant!!!!!

5. I've seen that

A teller at my bank has a H2 with handicapped plates. She gets the plates for her heart condition, her husband bought the Hummer, which she doesn't like much (I assume she has a hard time getting in and out, she makes me look tall.) Before that, she had a very nice van.

7. It's not your place to question someone's handicapped sticker.

I know that seems harsh, but it's none of your business. Handicapped stickers are given out for a range of conditions, and it's between the person with the permit, their doctor, and the DMV what that condition is.

Not all of those conditions would prevent a person from climbing in and out of a Hummer, such as those that make it difficult to walk a long distance. For some conditions, getting in and out of a high vehicle may actually be easier than getting in and out of a low one. Not all qualifying conditions are permanent, not all are constant, and not all are visible. Again, it's really none of your business. One of the worst irritations for people who do have to use a handicapped parking tag is the constant judgment from random strangers who think that it is their business to decide who should have a tag and who does not. Frankly, you ought to butt out.

I have a permit for my various problems...but because I am in my early 40s, I get the stinkeye from people who prejudge me based upon how I LOOK.

12. I had a temp tag and got that, too

I am in my early 30s and I don't look like anything is wrong with me. Even "worse", I can often walk fine for a while with empty hands, but have trouble after I've gone some distance and especially have trouble when I'm carrying anything. Going into a grocery store, I scoot along as spry as anybody. On the way back out, it's an entirely different story.

The worst was getting crabby comments from elderly people. "Is that YOUR tag? You know it's AGAINST THE LAW to use someone else's tag..."

That one's almost as bad as (imagine snotty condescending tone here)

"Oh, aren't you fancy. That's a pretty cane, but you're too young to need it."

Makes me want to say "Thank you. It's wonderful that you've kept such a youthful attitude. How nice it must be, after all your generation has experienced, to have retained the simple mind of a child."

8. There are some handicaps that are not related to joints or muscles

For instance congestive heart failure can impair the breathing enough to necessitate parking much closer to the store, etc.

Many of these types of handicaps are invisible.

heart / lung problems etc..

also, sometimes mobility issues aren't always at their worst when you see someone.


though I do believe the person has a mental condition for driving one of those :evilgrin:
