Why is my Outlook only showing me new mail when I create a new message?

Strangest thing today at work...we use Microsoft Outlook for e-mail. I noticed that I wasn't getting any e-mails for quite a long time, which is odd, since I'm a pretty popular guy. :) When I created a new message to send to my wife, five or six messages with times in the previous several hours all appeared at once. This has since happened two or three other times. No e-mails show up until I open a new message, at which point, they all show up at once.

I've tried the "Send/Receive" button, but that doesn't have any effect. What could cause such a thing to happen?

No idea... bug your IT people? :shrug: Reboot your computer first, though :)

3. it sounds like you're working on "offline" mode

synchronize your mailboxes by pressing F9. I can't remember how to make it work "live" though, and MS hasn't made the Outlook interface any more intuitive over the last couple of generations, so finding that option is difficult.
