11. Sam Rockwell played Zaphod in the movie
The other head is under his chin, and it pops up like a jack-in-the-box.

If you loved the BBC version, you'll hate the movie.

19. I hated the BBC version
I only saw about one episode, but first, Trillian was not very attractive. And second, Marvin looked like he was put together by a sixth grader with cardboard boxes or something. Finally, Zaphod's 2nd head just sat there like a rubber prop.

24. You should check out the movie then.
The special effects are good, I'll give it that much.

29. I was instantly reminded of that bogus 2nd head ...
When I saw this recent news pic. I remember hearing that the BBC head was supposed to be a remote-controlled puppet, but frequently didn't work. (Of course, it's the one on our right which is malfunctioning.)

13. He played Chuck Barris in "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 03:09 PM by Rob H.
The first movie I ever saw him in was Galaxy Quest as Guy Fleegman.

"I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm just 'Crewman Number Six'--I'm expendable! I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is! I've gotta get outta here!"

18. okay, he is American born in 1968
so perhaps a relative since I have alot of Rockwell relations. However the bio does not mention who his actor father is.

He also played the lead thug in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the psycho killer in The Green Mile.

"I don't even have a last name!"

I never realized he was Guy Fleegman from Galaxy Quest!

Now I have to watch Galaxy Quest again just to see him - I think I have it somewhere.

Agreed! I love her to pieces. Geena Davis is a lovely woman IRL it appears to. She says her husband keeps giving her crap about thinking that she really IS president.

6. Yes she is. They have done that show seamlessly. My daughter and
I watch it together after school the next day. It's a pretty good government lesson as well. :hi:

8. Donald Sutherland is awesome in that role, isn't he? His choked
back anger was great. I love it when she nabs him, but I was really surprised that she didn't give him the tape, to prove that she wouldn't use it.

9. He does play the part really well -- I really hate him
(the character, not Donald Sutherland). I trust her to destroy it or not to use it in any other way. She showed a lot of compassion in not accepting the HIV-positive guy's resignation. I knew she wouldn't let him go. I think letting him leave would have been more of a controversy than keeping him on her staff. Look at Magic Johnson -- being open and honest works much better.

10. I wonder how she will feel when she finds out that Jim gave up the
VP position to stick with her? I thought of that last night when she told him that she really wished she could trust him completely. He's doing a good job of acting as well. It is a well put together cast. I wish it was real life...Sigh.

15. Speaking of the VP ...
did they swear him in yet? I like the episode when she picked him. They make a great team.

I can't wait to see how they handle the show when she runs for re-election. Do you think she'll stay as an independent?

17. I think so too! I don't think they have sworn him in yet. What do you
think the "big secret" is in his past. I was thinking it was maybe a John McCain sort of thing..i.e. his daughter is his biological child, but not his wife's or something like that.

I don't know what she'll do. They've really done a pretty fine job of keeping a fine line so it's a good show for dems and reps to watch (except for those idiots who think it's just a vehicle to get Hillary into office). It would be kind of neat to see her remain an independent.

20. I think she'll remain an Indie.
What will be interesting is who the Democrats run. We know who will be the GOP nominee.

I'm sure this show will on the air for several seasons.

I love it.

It will make for an interesting race. She said at the outset that she was going to serve her two years and not run, but we all know she will. First of all, where would the show go without her -- off the air!

The VP wasn't sworn in yet, but I wonder what Templeton is holding over his head. He's such a Clark-type guy, although more hot-headed. Isn't McCain's child adopted? I never heard she was his biologically.

26. What I'd write for the election.
She of course will run again and of course will win. Unless the show is going off the air .... which I don't see happening.

Since she's any indie, there will be three major candidates President Allen, Templeton and the Democratic nominee.

I see something happen like this:

Mac gets the majority of the electoral votes and wins the popular vote, but not the 270 win the office.

Templeton is second with the Demo nominee third.

There is a showdown in congress to elect the president. The Senate has a majority of Democrats (I think I got that right from the show) and or course the house is led by the GOP and Templeton.

The democratic nominee knows he/she doesn't have much of a chance to get elected and after weeks of drama asks that all the electoral votes pledged to him/her vote for the winner of the popular vote, President Mackenzie Allen.

On a side note ... Templeton who is now out of a job is back in congress a few months later by winning a special election. You see the fellow that won the seat he gave up to run for president resigned after an embarrassing scandal. Can't imagine WHERE that dirt was dug up from.

30. I wish ....
I'd like to suggest that.

Wouldn't that be cool?

I was talking to a friend at work about the show and what we agreed is this.

The show moves very fast. They have a story line per show and follow up and finish it. They leave some storylines open .... like the VP and the first gentleman open. But they don't drag it out.

I like the West Wing, but never really followed it like I do this show.

Geena should get an emmy or at least a nomination. This is a great show.

I'm glad he fired that Coulter wanna be chief of staff.
