Examples of musicians plagiarizing themselves?
I heard "Small Town" by John Mellencamp yesterday, and it struck me how much it sounded like "I Need a Lover (That Won't Drive Me Crazy)".

Then there was the guy who put two Nickelback songs back-to-back on one mp3http://www.nintendorks.com/brandon/archives/000475.php

And come to think of it, three or four songs from New Orders "Power Corruption and Lies" have clearly lifted parts from Blue Monday.

This thread will probably sink like a stone, but I'm still curious...

Anyone have any other examples?

2. John Fogerty
Ripped himself off with the riff from "Old Man Down the Road". It was a ripoff off "Run Through the Jungle".

Ray Davies of the Kinks ripped himself off at least once as well, the song "Destroyer" from 1981's "Give the People What They Want" rips off the riff from "All Day and All of the Night".

11. He was actually sued by his old record company
for ripping off his own song! It pretty much got laughed out of court.

3. Status Quo does it all the time.
They have a style and they stick with it, even if it means they start to rip themselves off. They're still the best at what they do, though.

5. Rossini
He did it all of the time. It's a tad easier to hide it in the middle of a large-scale opera though.

Ace of Base (I know, I know :puke: ) sang was the same song basically. Same beat anyway. Then again, I guess they aren't really musicians!

13. I hate Nickelbak so much! First of all they are totally stealing Nirvana
EXCEPT THEY SUCK!

Second of all THEY SUCK, you know, they really are bad.

Third of ALL, Fred DURST OWNS THEM! That is mostly why or at least explains how they got so far while being so suckey.

BOYCOTT FAKEASS, LAMEASS, STUPID, NO TALENT NICKELBAK!

Here it is, in all it's craptastic glory (Nickelback, not the site)

(Requires Flash player)

www.thewebshite.net/nickelback.htm

Listen to it with headphones. It's so funny.

On Edit: I didn't realize that the mp3 of both songs mixed together was at your original link. Sorry. :hide:

The first time I came across this website, I seriously could not stop laughing for five minutes straight.
It almost made me wanna form a band and give Rock'n'Roll a shot.

Now that I listen to it again, the song(s) kinda makes a little more sense when they're mixed together like that.
