how long have you been married?
me? 34 wonderful years, my one and only intelligent decision ever.

some marriages last a long time, some a very short time. some are interrupted only by death. some were meant to be. what about you and yours?

38. Hello faithnotgreed.
My someone special is fully aware of all of the facts of my life. He has met my husband (house mate) by phone.

In this situation I feel free to live my life as a single person would. I am honest with everyone and never play head games. It works well for us.

Have a good night's rest. Sweet Dreams.

i didnt mean to imply anything at all

just thinking out loud that i had recalled someone special and at the time hoping that worked out
and then i saw you posted you were married 10 years so it all made sense when i read your post

and even if it didnt thats not your problem of course

but thanks for it anyway and im glad everyone is able to do what makes them happy and healthy

have a good nights sleep yourself

140. Wow, that is remarkable!
Forunately, we were both in our mid twenties and knew a good thing when we saw it. We met in early December in a Youth Hostel in Austria, of all places. I think travelling together really made us see things clearly, it was travel together or go separate ways, and we didn't want to separate so we went on together. Within the first few days our money was all mixed together, and it's been that way ever since.

How about you? Where did you meet?

I think sometimes love at first sight really works! So far so good!

68. I have a funny story about that:
On our honeymoon, we went to Maui and, of course, went to one of those big luau dinner things. At one point, during the dinner, the band leader announced that the next song was a "special one for all the people who had just gotten married, or were celebrating an anniversary", so my new hubby and I traipsed out onto the sand for a romantic dance....along with practically everybody else in the audience!! There we were, about 100 couples, celebrating the same wedding date!! It was pretty amusing.
So much for being "special and unique". hahah. :eyes:

Yeah, June is the most common month to get married in, apparently, and June 12th is a fine day, indeed.

How very cool that you both share the same day in common with us. Yet another thing in common, Peggy! :loveya:

Have a great day!
Shine

42. wow
now thats a union to be ever proud of

all relationships take such work
at least (hopefully) after 18 or 20 years ones children move out and spread their own wings but with spouses (again hopefully) it can be so many more years together that its a shining achievement when people stick together for the long haul
and it can be a haul sometimes im sure

again im so glad for you both
what a wonderful example for all the rest of us....

66. 9 years....Some of them the best years of my life, some of them
years I wish I could wipe off the board. But when I look at MrG, and the sum of our lives together so far (going on knowing him for 25 years) I wouldn't really change a thing. We've grown together. :hi:

92. almost 36 years.. (wedding cost less than $150)
Two young friends are planning their wedding for Oct 06, and "are trying to keep the costs down"...so far they have spent $12K.:eyes:..

Last night I "counseled" them on the stupidity of spening 20K on a one-day event that they will probably be to wired to even remember..

I do not understand the excessive expenses of today's weddings.. These kids both have a car payment, and are trying to scrape money together to buy a house also..Neither one has "family money"..They've been engaged for THREE years trying to "save up" for the wedding..

I just don;t get it

Kids!!

8 days before our 16th anniversary (and 1 week before my birthday), I found my husband's mistress's underwear on the floor in the kitchen. Within six weeks, the kids and I left AZ and were back in IL near my family. My birthday will be forever intertwined with the breakup of my marriage.

118. Got married June 18, 2005
We've been together for about 6 1/2 years, though. I was instantly attracted to him when we met - we were both 17 at the time and working at a local grocery chain together. It was the worst possible time, too! I was dating someone else, so I tried to swallow my feelings. Also, we had both just graduated from high school and would be off to different colleges in a few months. But when my then-boyfriend broke up with me, and I was single again, I decided, what the hell? and so I asked him out.

We've been together ever since, and were together all throughout college. It is all too easy to grow apart from a boyfriend or girlfirend during this time, but instead we ended up growing closer through the years - my husband is my best friend in the world. I never felt the desire to date anyone else or "play the field" or that I was "missing" anything. Like one of the earlier posters said, when you know, you know. Love doesn't come at a convenient time or "on schedule" - that's what makes it so beautiful and magical (and painful as well!).

And I've had about enough. There's nothing wrong with the guy, he's a peach. I just didn't love him enough to have married him. We're getting along better now though.

I lost a great love for the second time in 25 years not long ago. Now that was obviously not meant to be.

135. 36 years for us. It wasn't always easy, there were times when I
though one of us would kill the other, there was even a 3 month separation in the mid 80's when we both thought we were missing something from life. It seems as if the only thing we missed was each other.

I truly love the big lunk, he is the kind of guy who loves to fish, drink beer ad tell fish stories and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Ironic that many of us dems have ben married for so long what with the gay marriage problem and our lack of family values.(sarcasm)

Anyway, congrats to all who have found their significant other and have someone to share live with, through good times and bad.
