2. We have a midnight showing Thursday
that I won't be attending because I'm doing a dinner for work and will be entirely too exhausted. And Friday we have a K-State basketball game and I refuse to miss that. My husbands birthday is Monday so the weekend is dedicated to his celebration and even though we both took Monday off work, I promised not to drag him to Harry Potter. So, we're probably going to go Tuesday! I'm so excited! I've got a friend that will be there Friday, so she'll be able to fill me in over the weekend.

3. Me and my 8 year old can't wait
but the 2 of us are going to Atlanta on Friday to visit my sister and her new baby for the weekend, would it be rude to ditch the family to go to a movie?

43. My husband and I are planning on going to the matinee on Tue.
I hear it is getting good reviews. The only thing is, these are from people who don't read the books. Frankly I can't see how they can keep the integrity of the book in only one movie since the book is so long. Lots of cutting beloved scenes out. I'll just have to see for myself how well this new director does with the stripped down screenplay. One thing I find unfair is when folks point out that the cast is getting to old to play the parts. Well duh if they read the books they would know that Harry and company are growing older as well.

19. Actually I was referring to a Dark Lord not specifically mentioned in the
book.

There are dark lords in lots of fiction and dark lords in lots of real life situations.

Voldemort's life is metaphoric.

40. Hi tigereye!!
Yup, I'd responded further downthread that we're going tomorrow for my son's 12th bd party. We bought advance tix weeks ago, since we're taking so many kids. We've got boxes of Bertie Bott's Beans to give away as party favors, with disgusting flavors like "earwax" and "vomit". Should be fun!

Have fun when you see it! :hi:

27. It's not "Harry" Potter
It's "Hairy" Potter - a series of popular gardening/pottery books. "Harry" is a typo that occurred in a book review. Admitting wrongdoing was utterly out of the question, of course, so FOX News made up a brilliant cover story about a boy wizard who attends a school of magic in Britian.

It's a mass conspiracy, I tell you! If they knew I knew...

Hang on just a second, my doorbell is ringing...

The midnight showing was fun too. There was a trivia game going on while we waited for the movie to start. And Hagrid was there getting lots of hugs and cheers from the crowd.

I think this was one of--if no the- best one so far.

34. OMG, we are ALL OVER this one!!!!
My 12 yr old son actually played Harry Potter this past summer in a kid's 2 1/2 hr. production of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". He was picked out of 45 kids for the lead role. For his bd party this w/e we're taking about 12 of his friends to the Sat. matinee and we've already bought advance tix. Should be a blast.

Can't wait!! It's actually gotten fairly decent reviews, thus far, which is great.

:woohoo:
