Who should be Time Magazine's Person of the Year?
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 04:37 PM by Hatalles
And no, "Grovelbot" is not an acceptable answer.

Remember... the Person of the Year is for better or for worse -- someone who has had the greatest impact in the world over the course of the year. Word is, Time may be selecting "Mother Nature" as person of the year...

Here is a link to the complete list, going all the way back to '27.
http://www.time.com/time/personoftheyear/archive/stories/

And the most recent...

2004: George W. Bush
For reshaping the rules of politics to fit his ten-gallon style

2003: The American Soldier
The face of America, its might and good will, in a region unused to democracy

2002: The Whistleblowers
Women who blew the whistle on Worldcom, Enron and the FBI

2001: Rudolph Giuliani
New York mayor leads with his heart after 9/11 attacks

2000: George W. Bush
41's son elected President in the most controversial fashion

So... suggestions?

3. Cindy Sheehan
I thought I'd toss that name in there early...

I think she was the one person who really began to change opinions about the Bush Administration... she was the beginning of their demise this year.

4. What about me
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 05:17 PM by dr.strangelove
I had a good year. I got a speeding ticket overturned in January. I broke 90 for the first time in March (golf). My wife is having our first baby in January (so I did something right in April). I helped my neighbor cut down a tree that was dangerously close to falling on his house in the summer (July I think). I learned how to play the harmonica over the summer. I painted the living room and cleaned the gutters in the same weekend in October. Before the year is over I plan to learn how to burn a DVD. And, I saved a ton on my auto insurance by switching to Geico.

I so deserve this award. What do you think?

He doesn't get that much press, but he continues to do good things.

And his is a voice that reaches places that a fire-eater's voice never will.

...

Or maybe the Labourite who takes poodle Blair's bloody head. (Of course, I speak politically.)
