Why is it that some people seem to take great joy in being a-holes?
I got an email from one of our QA people the other day, saying that she and the other QA person wanted to meet with me and staff my cases. Thing is, she said they want to meet with me at 10:00 in the office 17 miles from where my home office is. The email also said they would be meeting with another person, who actually works in that office, at 12:30.

I emailed this woman back, and asked if the times could be flipped, since I have to travel to get to that office, and the other counselor would already be there. This woman emailed back and said, "Why, is 10:00 too early for you" (the sarcasm was dripping down my computer screen). I felt a stab of anger, and shot back, "Yes, it is."

I am a nightowl (okay, Nighthawk), and I don't get up at o'dark-thirty. But, I don't stop working at 5:00 either. I get my work done, and in my industry, we can pretty much make our own schedules. So yes, 10:00 am, to be up, ready, and making my way through the nightmare of Seattle traffic is not something I want to do.

I asked again if the times could be switched. This woman refused. So I suggested that if she wanted to meet at 10:00, we meet at the office that is 5 miles from my house, that is south of Seattle, and I can get there pretty quickly.

This morning, she sent an email back to me saying no, because they had to meet with the other counselor at 12:30. She will not budge, she won't switch the times (the other counselor is totally willing to switch times with me), and she won't meet with me at the office closer to me.

And I think she is totally enjoying this!

:grr:

1. Is this the same one
that had problems with you earlier? Sometimes I think they're just there for a short time. Karma is mightier than the force.

2. That would be the same person.
I've known her for a long time, as we used to work at another company together. She gets a jones on for someone, and she just won't let go.

4. I'd say she's enjoying this!
So what does she propose you do from 10AM until 12:30PM when the other worker gets there? Or did I miss something, and she's coming in early for this important meeting?

This is crazyness, IMHO!

Good luck to you, my dear SeattleGirl!

7. She wants to meet with ME at 10:00 and the other person at 12:30.
What makes this so stupid is that the person who is scheduled for 12:30 will be there before 10:00, because she works out of that office, and she is more of a morning person than I am, so it would make sense, would it not, for the QA people to meet with the other counselor first?

And yes, this woman is enjoying this. I've seen her do similar things to other people at the other company we worked at together.

Oy!

6. Are you in a position to say that the schedule....
as she wants it is unacceptable? You've been flexible on the matter, let her jump through some dammed hoops for a bit.

A hearty "Up Yours!" might do her some good too.

9. I basically did tell her that, and again, she absolutely won't budge.
Unfortunately, she seems to get her jollies from this kind of stuff. I wish she'd do like most of the rest of us and get her jollies from sex!

31. Maybe you should ...
Just say nope to the the meeting she wants and throw the whole thing back at her. It sounds like her duties are more affected by it than yours, so piss on her.

Toss in a dildo suggestion to her as well. or just tell her that orgasms are NOT over-rated, no matter what she's heard.

10. I can really sympathize with what you're going through,
just from the simple fact that you don't work banker's hours. A lot of "day" people can't relate to those of us who are hard at work when they're tossing back a cold one at 5:30 or teeing off at 6. They refuse to accomodate anyone like us. Put that mindset together with the soul of a complete uncaring power hungry asshole and you've got problems. I don't know what a solution would be.

11. "complete uncaring power hungry asshole"
Yep, that about sums it up! And yeah, some people just don't get it that we live in a 24/7 world. This whole mindset that you're only a hardworking person if you get up at 4:00 in the morning or something is idiotic. Oh well.....what do you do?

12. I hate that too.
My schedule is so late and so invisible to others thst some people presume I A. Don't work at all. or B. am some kind of aristocratic caterpillar or C. Both. Also, not getting any could make one meaner. It just made me sad when I wasn't. Getting any.

24. Why thank you -- I've worked hard at honing my "smarty pants" skills!
And S&H Green Stamps???? Come on, I'm worth more than stamps!

I am a vocational rehabilitation counselor. I deal with people who have been injured on the job. Bottom line, I gather info I need, and based on that info (work history, education, skills, physical capacities), make a determination as to whether they are employable, and if so, in what, under the definition of employability outlined in the laws of the State of Washington.....

I dealt with Voc-Rehab counselors all the time going through college. They helped me get part of my education. I'm eternally in the debt of your profession. :)

You don't like green stamps? I remember getting some cool stuff as a kid when we saved up enough stamps.

I only know because I had to have one...twice. Unrelated...10 years apart. And EEGs too.

You also probably manage the sleep technology lab. Neat job.

now with working hours even being self-employed. There is more a life than that, be assured.

The bad thing is that you make the impression that you're working always, so it doesn't matter if a client calls you on the weekend.

The guy I was talking about (who gets fired on Friday and sure finds a better job where his qualities are well encouraged) sent me bunch of works every Friday afternoon.

28. You know, you could have a lot of fun with this.
Show up in your bathrobe and slippers, and a hot cup of coffee. If you have curlers, put them in your hair. Early in the meeting, you accidentally knock over the coffee, spilling it in her lap.

Be creative. Plot your revenge, and make it good.
