2. if you are younger put your money more in stocks
If you are older put it less in stocks.

Thats the general rule of thumb.

Im 33 and have 90% of mine in stocks.

4. Safe harbor refers to low yeild, low risk funds
Lots of bonds....but not much interest. Of course, they are risky in a way, esp if inflation rises faster than your interest. Then you lose money.

6. that's all it means? safe harbor = low risk, low yield?
we've rec'd the most convoluted, piece of crap memo on our safe harbor contribution for next year. everyone's asking the ben. dir. what the hell it means - jesus, no one can understand the damned memo, and he offered no definitions just said "see . . ." and "see . . ."

and when he replies to these queries he doesn't give answers - just more unintelligible crap. aaaaahhhhhhh!

9. This has to do with Federal regulations regarding...
.... discrimination.

"As a general rule, 401k plan must satisfy certain non-discrimination requirements. Many small businesses find this hard to do and, as a result, many don't set-up such plans. The Small Business Job Protection Act of 1996 provided 401k plans with alternative, simplified methods of meeting the non-discrimination requirements. 401k plans that adopt one of these alternative methods are referred to as "safe harbor 401k" plans."

From this site....

Looks like you have some googling to do :)
