Why WXPN rocks: LIVE Hooters (the band) broadcast tomorrow night!
I'm so excited I could plotz. WXPN in Philadelphia will be broadcasting an extremely rare US concert appearance by The Hooters LIVE tomorrow night! The show is a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand, so tickets are $150 each, which is well out of my price range, unfortunately.

They're also broadcasting a show by Trey Ana...umm...the guy from Phish tonight (live, as well). I believe you can listen to both shows online at xpn.org.

3. Ha ha! "Extremely rare" live Hooters concert
Rare now - but I spent many, many nights with them as my local bar band at the Ambler Caberet and at the Rocking Chair in Avalon.

Not rare back in the day at dive Philly bars!

4. True, true. The Cabarets aren't dives anymore, though.
At least not the 23 East and Chestnut. I've played both of them recently (in fact, I'm playing the former Chestnut this Thursday), and they're quite nice now, for bars designed to attract college students.

9. Wait - you play the 23rd east?
Let us know when you play there again. That's right off the Vine Street Expressway.

6. Indeed. His whole crew rocks.
Eric Bazilian agreed to come to my workplace a few years ago to discuss the music business and play for my students. Eric and everybody in the management were super-cool.

8. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE HOOTERS
I saw them a couple of times back in the mid-80s. One night we got totally shitfaced drinking Purple Hooters before the Hooters concert.

Ahhh...the memories

BTW, we're really going to try to see your band in concert it's just that Ramsey and I both dislike smoky bars which unfortunately is all of Philadelphia. But maybe if there was something downtown we could come check you out and leave if the smoke is really bad!
