1. Women have been wearing the wrong size bras!
She did a show on it earlier and so many women loved the show, so she is doing another one! Bras can be tricky to fit. We are all built so differently!

22. My Mom is one of those gals....
She is 73 and I went bra shopping with her a few months back -- I was floored when she lifted a 44C off the rack.

My Mom has JUGS and there is no way in HELL they are fittin' into a C cup!

I shared my disbelief with her and then got a good look at what was happening with her bra under her clothes. She had "shelf bra" going on -- where the bra is too small and just creates on bit tit going all the way across, instead of two seperate boobs, each in their own cup.

8. Unless you have to deal with it, you wouldn't understand
Guys, and women who are blessed with more slender shapes just don't get it. I used to be skinny and flat-chested, and the bras I wore were nice and stretchy and as comfortable as a t-shirt. Tiny straps, comfy stretchy "cups", tiny stretchy little bands around my ribs. Fast forward a few years, and I'm wearing something designed by an architect, with industrial strength shoulder straps and wires that set off the airport metal detector.

If you're a size B or above, the wrong bra can make you miserable. They cut into your shoulder, their underwires poke into the sides of your breasts, they itch, they cut into your back.

And they make others miserable to have to look at them -- just walking through the train station, I see LOTS of women wearing an obviously wrong bra - they are smushed, they're sagging, they're bouncing, they're shaped like torpedoes, they seem to have 4 breasts instead of 2 (wearing a too-small, "demi cup" bra), they have actual RIDGES in their shoulders, their back fat is clearly separated into quadrants -- ick.

50. Even if you're smaller than a B cup, the wrong bra can be awful.
Smaller women can have a lot of trouble with fit also, particularly those of us who prefer a structured, underwire bra rather than a stretch-to-fit type.

12. But how easy is it to get the right fit in a bra?
What if you have different sized breasts (who doesn't). What if yours are really too large for the DD which is the last size most people sell?

American retail, you are stocking not enough sizes in bras!

42. Find a proper corsetier; then it's easy.
I know of one, but you'll need to take a plane to London.

Rigby and Peller. They'll make custom bras for you that fit right. However their service isn't cheap.

I'm sure there has to be a good corsetier this side of the Atlantic. Anyone know of one? My wife could do with some better bras for one.

Mark.

31. The only way to bra shop is to take off a morning workday
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 03:14 PM by rocknation
--weekends and holidays are out of the question--and be there when the store opens so you'll have time to try on as many as necessary. I found a perfect bra by doing that, but I only bought one, and I was miserable at the prospect of replacing it. On a whim, I ran a web search on its brand name and model number, and ended up with more online lingerie stores than I knew what to do with!

And do you remember the Married With Children episode when Peg learned that her bra was discontinued? She was traumatized, her neighbor Marcy made a condolance call, and her husband Al went on a road trip to a wholesaler to buy her ten more!

47. You people are so literal!
Okay, to clarify -

I wear a sports bra when I ride horses, jog (not that I jog all that often) or participate in any kind of rowdy sport. Oh, and I wear one at work because ... well, it's work.

But most of the time, I don't wear one. I'm about a 36C, have had 3 kids and breast fed one of them and I'm 44 years old. They don't sag or look awful - they are round and perky and well-formed (so I am told). And no, I'm not posting pictures! :P

I have a sneaking suspicion that companies that make bras are the ones who sponsor studies that indicate that women can break their neck if they don't wear one and that sort of thing. After all, most tribal women never wore them and some of them were/are quite active.

Free the Breasts! That's my motto!

52. I would kill to be a 36 C again.... I buy 38 DDD non underwires
and they really are not a perfect fit, just the best I can do..a 36 DDDD would be better but damn near impossible to find.

You are very lucky your breasts stayed round and well formed after 3 pregnancies. Mine went south, literally, after my pregnancy/nursing. Some of us are just genetically fixed that way. Mine are also very heavy. I am also short, so the underwires in the DDD cup bras tend to poke me in the armpits.

I have significant dents in my shoulders, and I wear bras with nice wide padded shoulder straps, too.

It is fun to show the dents to women who moan about wanting to be a DD cup and tell them they don't know how lucky they are.

My 21 year old daughter often says she hopes she doesn't have a late blooming surge in breast size, she likes her small but very well proportioned bustline.

44. No need for those torture devices
I can't stand them either. Many models have a wireless version. and don't fall for those pix where they tie the device in a half knot to show how "flexible" it is - with the right tools you can do that to a piece of rebar. Just give me something cotton, keep the gross industrially thick seams to a minimum, unpadded cups, lightly padded straps and can't you manage less than a dozen freaking hooks? I mean really.
