3. I believe that Elway did more with less.
He didn't have a Jerry Rice out there.
His late game drives were monumental!

4. I agree, Joe Montana
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 05:18 PM by Awsi Dooger
Although as a Miami fan that often puts me at peril (and probably ignore) when I mention it on Dolphin forums.

As far as left out, Terry Bradshaw won four Super Bowls. Also Roger Staubach or even Troy Aikman (in his early prime) might deserve a mention.

On edit: whoops, I didn't notice Steve Young wasn't listed. I'm a yards per attempt guy and Young is maybe the best ever in that regard at slightly over 8 yards per attempt. Anything 7 or higher is excellent but 8 is another animal entirely. Young had seven seasons with 8 yards per attempt or higher.

9. Bobby Layne. He did it toasted.
He was so great, no Detroit Lion QB has even come close in 48 years. Gawd, we suck.

32. I bleed Black and Gold....
Bradshaw was what I call "One of the Best Worst QBs" Ever. Although I have to admit, he had a hell of a team and got the job done. I like Bradshaw, he's a good guy. The Dynasty of the 70's... I miss those days. But now we have something to watch in young Mr. Roethlisberger. I am telling you, remember that name, he will be beating your team later. I am hoping he brings the Trophy back, and I am hoping that the Bus is with us when he does.

As far as leaving the Burgh...I am not there now either, but I spent 30 of my 34 years there... Pittsburgh born and bred!! You may be able to take the girl outta Pittsburgh, but you can never take the Pittsburgh out of the Girl!

GO STEELERS!!!!!

35. Compare the talent of the Steelers to tha of the Broncos.
Steelers team was packed with great player on both sides of the ball. Elway did most of it by himself.

36. I remember Elway's chief talent was his elusiveness....
The Seahawks had a hell of a time trying to sack him. Over the years the Seahawks often got pounded by our division rivals the Broncos.
We flushed him out of the pocket quite often but rarely did we catch him. His scrambling abilities bought time for his receivers to get open while we hawk fans could only scream "GET HIM" at our TVs. This combined with a good program of drafting first rate running backs, (and using them wisely), kept the Broncos atop the AFC West for much of John Elway's career.

21. Bradshaw has to be up there.
Marino on a better team would've had multiple SB rings. Montana was an average qb who owes his status to Bill Walsh's system.

24. Peyton Manning
He keeps breaking the records set by the above mentioned QBs in your poll as well as those other QBs suggested in this thread. He is still young enough that by the time he retires he may hold the clear majority of all the QB records. Love him or hate him one must respect his stats. I am shocked that he flew under the DU radar in this thread.

I think you'll be proven right. Peyton has all the tools, plus the media savvy. Those MasterCard commercials he's doing are *priceless*.

Not even close. Elway had a cannon for an arm, but Joe Cool had that extra something special that puts him above all others IMO.
