A cool piece of political memorabilia from 1990
I found this while I was cleaning out my old house last night. It's my floor pass from the 1990 Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor party convention.

I was first alternate for my county unit, and I spent a lot of time on the floor. 1990 was a very big year for the DFL: Paul Wellstone won endorsement at this convention after SEVEN ballots, and later went on to upset Rudy Boschwitz in the general election.

I am proud to say that I was on the floor for that vote, and that I cast all seven of my ballots for Paul Wellstone. Wow. I can't believe it's been 15 years already.

2. I found some old photos, too
A couple from 1988 of me taken w/ Mike Dukakis before the MN caucuses, and also one taken with a young Mark Dayton at the grand opening of the Mankato Dukakis office in the fall of 1987.

I thought I had some of Paul and I, but sadly I didn't find them

3. Good memories
I was an alternate delegate to the Hennepin County DFL convention in 1990, when an extremely energetic and enthusiastic (albeit petite) man gave a speech asking for our endorsement for his campaign for US Senate.

God I miss him.

4. That was an amazing year

especially coming off of 1988, where we got a thorough ass-kicking. The only race we won in my neck of the woods (St. Peter) was the local leg race, where Don Ostrom gave Alan Quist a one-way ticket out of St. Paul. Paul Wellstone actually came over from Northfield to lend Don a hand with the campaign-- it's where I first met him, actually!

And here's a very very young nnns (in the middle) with Mike Dukakis in Feb 1988:
