Wow...Dilemma time.

Now, as a few of you know, I'm in college right now. In my college, we get Student ID cards. You can also put money on these cards to spend with. I usually only have one or two dollars on it, so it pretty much doesn't matter to me.

Now, yesterday, I paid for something (a coke, I think) with the card, but I found I had insufficient funds (Cokes are $.67 and I think I had only $.62.) So, instead, I just paid with a five and I thought that was that.

Now, however, I go and pay for a copy with my card (they're only 12 cents, so I can afford that) and I see my card has a $5.00 balance! I believe the clerk accidentally hit a wrong button and not only gave me change, but put $5 on my account. I think she might have accidentally given me change on $6, now that I think about it. (I remember having $5.33 in change, and I only brought $5)

I'm most likely going to give the extra dollar and the $5 back, but I want to see what the lounge would do.

4. I don't know what college you go to...

but the accounting system sounds a lot like University of Delaware. and if your college is anything like the University of Delaware, they over charge you for pretty much everything so six dollars isn't much of a loss.

7. I would give it back.

I'm always doing that, giving back extra change I was given or pointing out that I wasn't charged correctly for something. Drives the people around me nuts, but that's the way I was raised and the example I want to set for my kids. It doesn't matter if the amount is five cents or five hundred dollars. Honesty is always the best policy. (And this is one reason why I'm derisively known as "Pollyanna".):)

Strange; I go and give it back, but when she rings up my card, it says there's only .62 cents on there.:shrug:

My college has 3 or 4 different money plans (Razorbucks, Flex Dollars, Meal Dollars) and maybe rang up the wrong one, I dunno.

If the mistake is caught, the clerk may end up out the $5 rather than the university. She will notice it even if they wouldn't.
