I'd have to say Clinton but it wasn't much of a horse race considering I was born during the Regan administration

15. Clinton
I was born before Reagan took office, but after the election, so I'm practically in the same boat. I dodged a bullet in that my very republican parents discussed Reagan as a baby name.

They chose something else thankfully, but it really didn't matter as I have 4 birth names and use none of them, nor any derivative.

18. a real Texan
b. 1967

Clinton did well, of course, but Johnson was a towering figure. He fought for the poor, for civil rights and contained aggression without starting WW3. I know people fault him for Vietnam and he did mismanage the whole thing. Still his accomplishments were substantial.

25. Clinton, with Carter a close second. And LBJ as an honorable mention.
Like a lot of people, I can see LBJ's accomplishments without the tragic black penumbra of Vietnam hanging over them. It's so sad that a man as gifted as he had no more power or ability than B*sh to extricate himself from such a ruinous exercise in global power politics. And, unlike B*sh, he had an actual domestic policy legacy to protect.

26. Clinton-I was born a year after Kennedy died.
I liked Jimmy Carter as a person, but he was too nice of a guy to be an effective president.
I liked Gerald Ford, but being from Grand Rapids, MI, it's sort of mandated.
LBJ did some good things-signed civil rights legislation, mostly, but he did make a mess of Vietnam.
Nixon did some good things, too. Watergate as a scandal doesn't even touch the seriousness of Iran/Contra or the current leak investigation, although the assassination of Allende comes close.
