I've decided I don't want to do geology anymore.
I'm in my fifth year in college, with one semester left to go in my major, and I've decided I don't want to do it anymore. I don't like geology. I don't even want to put the work into it anymore.

What I really want to do is work as a store manager somewhere. You know...something related to business. That's what I'd be happy doing. It's just too bad that I realised this in my final year of college. :(

3. Better you realize it now than ten years from now.
You know what you'd rather do-- that's half the battle. Go for it!

12. My son-in-law became a doctor, then turned his back on the whole thing,
went back to college and studied computer science.

He worked with computer companies for several years, but now, at 43, he has combined both his medical background and his computer interests. He's now with a health sciences university in the area of "medical informatics," which combines both of his areas of training.

Don't give up. The career is living. Perhaps you'll be involved with business and geology someday.

In peace,

Radio_Lady

4. Don't try to pick up women with that line
Seriously, I had an "interesting" encounter with a guy who told me all about how women are bored by geology.

9. I'd try to finish up (since you're so close anyway)
and then dabble in other areas of interest. A degree never hurt anyone. :) Good luck!

10. switch to hydro-geology.
my best friend's husband just got his master's. he LOVES it.

good luck man, do what's in your heart, but sleep on it a few nights. go visit the psychology center and chat with a career counselor before you decide. you put a lot of time and effort into geology already. I would hate for you to chuck it on a whim.
