Oh, this is great, JUST Great!
:sarcasm:I went to PCWorld .com (the computer, not the "PC") and found this message in the "Advertisement" box:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ad.doubleclick.net.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to...
:evilfrown:

Dammit, it must be all the layers of ad blocking software I use (at last count 3 or 4, I'm not really sure anymore).

BTW, I didn't get this message before I upgraded to the new FireFox version 1.5rc1, I guess they did make some improvements.
(RC1 stands for Release Candidate 1, more info at the link below)

1. Sounds more like the doubleclick.net server is down to me.
If it was a result of blocking by Firefox, Firefox would brag and say "This ad blocked by Firefox" :)

Enjoy it while it lasts, I say.

5. I know, but I'd really like the satisfaction of knowing ...
...that those bungholes are REALLY having trouble. :freak: :hurts:

6. Got into both.
First had a popup that spybot pretended to catch. I up dated my fire fox a couple of months ago.

7. What version 1.0.7? Because ver1.5 is supposed to be a big jump...
...though it's hard to see a LOT of difference, other that a new layout for the "options" panel.

They say the "official" release is just days away, but this feels fairly final.

Here's the link: <http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/>

8. I have no idea.
I'm the kind of idiot you've heard tell of. Compustupid. Got a lot of popups, read here that mozilla had paid people to find holes, and went to the mozilla site and loaded the newest version and voila, popups cut in half. I think I miss the old(6 months ago) days when there were none.

9. If you're still getting pop-ups, you should try this program...
...called AdSubtract. I've been using it for years, it's a great program. <http://www.intermute.com/products/adsubtract.html>

AdSubtract stops the really nasty ones, plus most of the on-line ads you see on the web pages. They have a Free trial too (30 days I think, might be more).

If that doesn't help, you might have "Adware/Spyware" on you computer, just about everyone does.

I first learned about Adware/Spyware, when I was getting "Pop-ups" when I wasn't even connected to the internet, it's that bad.

I use "Spy Sweeper" for Spyware: <http://www.webroot.com/?WRSID=69de1580dd023464eb3393cb12646b91>

They have a 30 day free trial too, but their are other programs that will get rid of "most" Spyware, and they are basically free.

It sad, but it's gotten to the point that some sort of Spyware protection is almost mandatory.

Here's the most recent article and review I could find (from PC World):

<http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,122496,00.asp>

BTW, to see what version FireFox you have (if you are using a PC), click the "Help" menu at the top of the window, then click "About Mozilla FireFox" and the pop up will tell you. These are the only O.K. "Pop-ups."

13. Yup, I'm really into using the "tab" browsing now
I think FireFox 1.5 is even faster than 1.0.x also.:-)
