Edited on Mon Nov-07-05 08:27 PM by BamaGirl
SUCK!! My boy stabbed himself in the eye with freaking screw driver. Why? Hell if I know! He's a boy! :banghead: Do you know how hard it is to hold a 4yo down and put dye in his eye?? :eyes: Took 3 nurses to hold him. I think he scared about 10 years off my life. So anyway he's fine, amazingly didn't cut or scrape his eyeball, but he's going to have a heck of a black eye.

That must have been so scary! I would have probably lost it if my son had done something like that. Boys do weird things, don't they?

What is it with boys and sharp objects. When my oldest was 3 he stabbed a fork through his tongue.

They definately keep you hopping! Extra TLC for your son.

You'd think if you pushed it in a little way the excruciating pain would make you think, "Hmmm. Maybe I'd better remove this fork in my tongue."

But speaking as someone who shot a staple through my forearm when I was five (dad's tools were so cool), you don't think that far ahead. The damage is usually done before the pain even reaches your brain.

but he's run around with LeftyDad's sword once or twice.

Hint: A towel is useful in disarming four year olds armed with bladed weapons such as bread knives and bastard swords. For some reason it helps to make martial arts movie noises while you execute the terrycloth disarming maneuver.

We Moms will never know what those boys are thinking when they do those things. My oldest son spent more time in Er's than I care to remember and I have the streak of white hair to always remind me. I cried at his first scar..while he was proud of it.

I'm glad your little guy is ok.

It was a pretend football "run" that my son was doing that gave him his first scar. He tackled a metal electric fireplace--with his head. Still sports the scar above his eyebrow.

Fearless little guys. Good Luck Mom!

His wife takes him to the ER now although not as often. He's not as adventurous as he used to be now that he's a Dad.

33. Glad he's ok. Mine cut his ft open on an anvil.
jumped off his bed onto the anvil and called out that he needed help he was bleeding. ER and superglue fixed it up. I bought a secondhand pair of crutches when he was 12 because he kept spraining his ankle. And a batch of ace wraps. He had a permanent lump in the middle of his forehead when he was 3 from falling onto things. Hug to a mom and ER's definetely suck. No hurries there and then it takes many people to hold the kid down. sigh and hug.

41. Wellllll, I caused my parents trouble many times.
My mother learned the call of "mom, I'm bleeding" which was different from "Wahhhh". The latter meant someone bumped something, the first needed attention for me or a sister. Having only a boy, hard to tell what's happening now, but I could've used stitches several times, or at least superglueing, but mostly just got taped up to proudly show off my scars later. I've caught my son and his friends comparing scars. Kids.

49. Believe me..
.... I can relate. My first born son has been to the ER at least 5 times. The last time, about 4 years ago, he did a header over the handlebars of his bike going downhill pretty fast.

They called in a plastic surgeon because he split the part of his lip where the lip meets skin, and it has to be sewn up perfectly or you see an "uneven line".

Well, maybe this guy was mad at having to come in on a Sat night or whatever, but he was plain brutal with my kid. My ex and I are sitting there, trying to watch this shit without going crazy. I wanted to get up and tell the bastard to get out - but I kept telling myself that he had to do it this way ... but I didn't really believe it.

One of the worst nights of my life :(
